    SOSA ? Govenor Maduro
    Wrapper: Ecuador
    Filler: Dominican Republic
    Size: 6ins x 50
Smoke time: 1 hour 45 mins Source: Lee Nub

I won this cigar in a Lee cigar Competition, and Lee asked me for comments when I got around to smoking it. I know next to nothing about SOSA other than they are a Florida based smoke shop located close to, or inside the Disney World complex. I?m not even sure if I?ve got the cigar?s brand title correct, but going by the cigar band I?m assuming this is a house blend, and knowing Lee?s tastes in smokes this isn?t going to be for any Softee Gilberts?.

Appearance: Rich, dark brown, slightly oily Maduro wrapper with a smooth grain and one or two raised veins. The cigar profile was slightly elliptical, but felt well packed with a yielding pinch along the entire barrel.

Construction: Slightly resistive pre-draw, smoking draw exactly the same. Perfect ash compaction. (see photos). No re-lights, no corrections.

Flavour: The pre-cut aroma from the foot was haylike, very pleasant and also carried something which reminded me of green tea. The flavour start was bright vegetal (although ?what? I had no idea) but held in a sweet, latte textured smoke. The vegetal tastes had a slightly acidic ?tangy? undernote which, dare I say it, was very Cuban and totally delightful. Halfway into the first third I began to pick out more acidic notes akin to Pear Drops. The refreshing sweetness of the third was joined in its latter stage by light delicious woods which provided a dry counter to the wetter vegetal flavours. Into the second third and as the woods increased I could also pick out some of the fresh, tealike notes I had detected in the pre-draw aroma.
I?m going to stop for a moment to try and explain a constant. At no stage during any of its progressive thirds did this cigar loose its sweetness and that the amount of sweetness is in perfect harmony with the tastes and flavours around it. My lips went numb sweet during the first third, and still are as I write this.
As the second third progressed the wood flavours ramped up becoming more to the fore and in retro-hale I was getting some light, mild vegetal pepper. Moving towards the end of the second and into the final third, and new flavours, in smooth transition and carrying with a slightly more bitter/sweet edge began to dominate. Praline then something mochalike and finally sweet edged dark chocolate. Outstanding!

Overall: A great mornings smoke, an absolute Winner, the flavours profile I will catagorise as being Medium-Full (and without the titanic wrestle with some nicotine monster that I had anticipated ). In all seriousness, my kids are all grown up now and my Disney World trips are long over, but to anyone lucky enough to be in that neck of the woods pick some of these up, because on this smoking, and all my ?snobby? CC prejudice aside, a $9 NC just held its own with the greater majority of the Cuban vitola I?ve smoked. This cigar was silk smooth, flavoursome ? in all honesty I couldn?t pick one passage I prefered over another ? and smoked along like a dream. Nuff said! Thanks Lee, great cigar!

    A Value Stick!

And at $100 US a box, might be well worth a go!

That they are TJ. To be honest, being a bit of a CCs snob I'd put off this review thinking I wasn't going to be much impressed .... what a fool I was.

And there's quite a family too. The 93 CA rated Wavell being a little closer to my preferred size range.

I got a few cigars with the Sosa Family label last time I was in Florida and have to say a really enjoyed them.

I haven't been back since to replenish my stocks, but fingers crossed for next year.
