Just a copy-paste from another forum where i am the dark lord of the sith cummon how could the name Darth Vader not be taken.
So a few weeks ago i get myself a oliva v double robusto and untill today (about 3 days ago now) its been sat in my humi so i decided to light something up and enjoy my new shedidor
Location - Smoking shed mice and all.
Drinks - Old Peculiar and a club soda.
Music - VNV Nation (yes its important to me to enjoy a smoke)
Cut and light - Cigar scissors and a triple jet flame lighter.
Construction - Overall it was pretty good the wrapper was dark and oily with a few small veins and spots though i did find a soft spot under the cap it was well filled and quite firm.
Draw - It was good maybe a little open but i dont expect a "cuban" draw in a NC
Pre light draw - This gave me the impression of that smell you get from wet earth like a forest after its been raining with notes of pepper too.
1/3 - Very earthy with hints of pepper and dark choc the OP ale is complementing this nicely and the smoke is very smooth though the burn is total crap requiring regular touch ups.
2/3 - The earth and pepper are dying off unlike the burn which is still appalling and they are being replaced with a nice smooth sweet tasting smoke with milk coffee and milk choc flavours.
Almost the 3/3 - It started to get a little bitter at this point and the burn is still wavy at best so i decide to touch it up and purge it.
3/3 - The burns finally straightened out and im getting flavours of espresso,hard wood and the earth has returned but im starting to feel a little light headed and sick even with a heavy dinner the dark oily olivas seem to kick me around a bit so i give it up at this point.
Overall it was enjoyable while it lasted but i prolly wont buy it again it gave me one nasty case of the mc chills and mc sick so i had to have a nap the first 2/3s where good the last third was just awful thinking about it no one likes getting that cigar sick feeling but why these olivas give it to me more often than my bolivar collection is beyond me even with a heavy dinner.
Still at least it was better than the RyJ water closet.
