  • RASCC

Right, just had a RASCC (2008) and though i'd pop a review here as I enjoyed it so much...

Construction - Good, light pack but not underfilled
Wrapper - Not pretty, lots of small veins but in good condition
Aroma at cold was slightly metalic, with a hint of chocolate at the foot and a very pungent tobacco smell
Draw - On the loose side but not an issue

    1/3-
Right off the bat, just sweet coffee notes which was lovely, there was also a very floral like taste which came in after the very short finish of the more poweful coffee. Towards the end of the first third it turned a bit bitter and the floral notes disapeared.

    2/3-
The finish became longer and the cigar developed to being more grassy/woody and the sweetnes faded. On one draw all I could taste was bread, sounds odd but the flavour was very obvious and I wanted it to return but it didn't. It turned a bit hot in the mouth just after half way but that was my fault as I was searching for that sweet bread flavour a bit too quickly.

    3/3-
Sweetness returned along with a metalic musty note on the finish. A slight bit of spicy twang entered the mix just before I removed the band but very soon got kicked out by more sweet coffee right up until it burnt my fingers. At which point, I sadly had to put it to rest.

The burn was very good, one slight touch up was needed due to a wayward burn but no issues with re-lights. The smoke output was great too, clouds of creamy, thick, white smoke ploomed out of my mouth after every draw. The smoke was very full on the nose and towards the end it smelt as if I was walking past a candy floss stall, it really was that sweet.

    Overall I would rate this a 90, possibly even a 91.

For such a small cigar I was amazed at the progression it offered and I think that is the main reason why I liked it so much, I have one more and if that is half as good as this one was I will be hunting out a box when I get offshore (hopefully in a month or 2).

Hope you all enjoyed my first proper review, James.

They really are good! I smoked it fairly quickly and it still lasted just under an hour which is perfect for me! And for the price (?7.29) they're great!
