    Length 4.4"
    Gauge 50
Build Slight veining on the wrappers but well put together and feels solid. Came in a box individually wrapped in spanish cedar and generally looks like the premium smoke it is. Lit easily and burnt evenly after a little dry boxing.
Taste Pre-light the draw is a little leathery with a pleasant sweetness. The flavours were very consistent throughout the cigar so I'll forgo my usual format. Leathery with occasional earthier notes and the odd bitter hints of tannin. It was so tempting to smoke too fast but remained cool and even throughout.

This is the third of these I've smoked and they are absolutely lovely. Young but I look forward to seeing how these develop.

I'm not much good with pictures when I'm smoking (and have lost my digital camera, again) but took a couple of photos of the first two I smoked. Handsome little sticks but note there is a moderate amount of veining on each of them. Excuse the camera phone pictures.

Nice review, AF make some good cigars. Have you tried the Hemmingway line?

I've had the short story and the work of art both maduro and natural. Both very good smokes!

How can you tell? Most NC boxes do not include dates.

Honestly I'm assuming from the taste. I've two boxes which I mixed when I checked the sticks and some have a very slight ammonia tang I've learnt to associate with younger sticks. I've genuinely no idea how old these are, unfortunately, but will be interesting to see what happens as they're going to be my main smokes for a while.

Well, that's one way to tell, for sure. But to be honest, I'd be a wee bit concerned if I picked up a box of NCs that had an ammonia scent. That's one area that NCs have it all over the CCs - rarely will you pick up a box (from a reputable vendor, of course) that is underaged, or in the so-called "sick period."

But I guess if you have a good nose you might be able to detect a whiff of ammonia on a younger NC.

On the other hand, I've rarely come across an NC that improves significantly with age. Not sure why, but CCs seem to benefit from aging while NCs, IMO, don't.

                              But that's just me!
