  • Factory Throwouts

These are as the name suggests throwouts from the factory, they have been rejected to imperfections in colouration of the wrapper.

I went for the Claro or No.59 in the range, they do 5.5 x 49 in Natural and Sweet. 6.75 x 45 in Natural and Claro (the ones I went for) and also a 7.75 x 52 in Natural, a Maduro and a sweet.

They are a proper bargain basement price and come in bundles of 20, each one is cello wrapped and looking through the bundle there is a fair difference in colour and veins on the wrappers.

I picked a random one out of the bundle to smoke on St Paddy's day, the wrapper looked very thin over the binder. Looking into the foot of the cigar it seemed quite open looking, but felt slightly springy. The cap was not exactly a thing of beauty and I made the mistake of trying to punch it. This did not work out very well and ended up tearing some of the wrapper . I then just cut the end.

The colour is perhaps just a touch paler than a filthy hooligan or the Rocky candella, the pre light draw was easy and quite mild and "green" tasting, like foliage or grass. I have heard others describe this of the hooligan so again similar.

It lit easily enough and seemed to burn well, it produced a sweet "grassy" flavour and was very mild, there was not massive amounts of smoke. It burnt evenly and produced a light grey quite open ash, which got to almost 2" before dropping. The flavours were light and quite subtle all the way through with no surprises. it lasted me about an hour for the slightly more than the first 2/3rds.

It wasn't an unpleasant smoke but then again it wasn't amazing, but for the price they would make an bargain everyday smoke and work out cheaper than hamlets or Cuban Puritos or clubs.

I would consider a name change from "Factory Throwouts" to "Uglies"

      This is the makers bumf
"The secret is out! Factory Throwouts cigars are actually expensive imported Ecuadorian sungrown tobaccos, with just slight discoloration which does not affect the taste and flavor, sold at a cheaper cost to cigarmaker J.C. Newman who passes their savings on to you, the cigar smoker. These are the same wrapper leaves used on famous import cigars which sell in the finer smoke shops around the world for ?10 to ?15 a piece. Inside these select leaves is a blend of specially aged Dominican tobaccos. Packaging these great tasting discount cigars in cellophane bundles for extra freshness makes these Factory Throwouts even more of an extraordinary value by saving you the added cost of fancy wood boxes, bands and labels. Throwouts are one of the top value premium cigars at the best cigar prices available making these enjoyable smokes one of the best cigar deals on the planet."

I would change all that to "Cheap and not unpleasant but Fugly cigars"

Yeah, thanks for the review! Now I have nothing to base this on but the cynic in me reckons these are probably the off casts from Alec Bradly and/or Rocky Patel.
