Good question Mark, and probably deserves it's own Thread. Flavour degradation is a natural consequence of age, which for some reason seems to be more rapid in LE and RE. But the flavours can and do return but how long that might take .... 2 years, 5 years, ten is all a bit uncertain. If a cigar can be smoked then it's not totally dead, but if it's nowhere near what you fondly remember, then it might as well be dead because of the huge disappointment.

Good honest appraisal PeeJay and unfortunately pretty much confirms what I've found with these over the last year. They've gone of the boil a bit, they were far more effervescent and interesting back closer to the release date.

The slight disparity in RG and wrapper shade I've also seen, but it doesn't (didn't) impact on the flavours.

the one on the right looks more attractive to me.
i just love brick red wrappers, some say it indicates a mature stick for some certain brands(ie partagas d4)

Nice review John. The size difference is very noticeable though

MarkLondon and I smoked one of these each and as you can see from the photo there was quite a disparity in size between them. Measuring 4.3" x48 this was quite a firm stick with that familiar scent of Cuban tobacco coming off the Colorado coloured wrapper. It lit with a big burst of roast nuts in my mouth and I was expecting good things but it soon settled down to a smooth leathery flavour that remained constant to the end with no transition or pepper.
Overall the burn was good with some correction needed and a couple of relights towards the end. The best you can say about this cigar is that it was 'nice' and an unchallenging smoke.
