  • Cohiba Siglo VI

Firstly want to thank Tommy for this AMAZING smoke that I had late last night, this has been my favourite cigar as of yet and I?m sure I?ve smoked over 200 now (at least); I?m sure you all remember that moment when you realise you?ve just smoked the best cigar you?ve ever tasted!

Pre-light: Smells strongly of cedar and Cuban tobacco, may I say Cohiba?s have a distinct smell to them as well although I can?t quite put my finger on it. Construction is firm and even, after guillotine clipping the draw was perfect (not too lose, not too tight).

1/3 ? Instantly got a hit of espresso as I lit up, this quickly moved to that ever so distinct grassy flavour which I only ever get from this wonderful brand. Smoke is medium-bodied at this point but surprisingly light, enough for me to retro-hale with ease; this accentuates the grassiness, Cuban grass is pouring out my nose , around halfway through 1/3 cream becomes somewhat noticeable and a tingle of spice on the palate (not dominant at all); the 2 go together ever so well. Boy is this a good start! Finishes with alternating woody, dry notes and grassy, spice.

2/3 ? Woody flavours take over and become dominant at this point, retro-hale still producing the grass, I love it! Spice is becoming more noticeable too and beginning to intensify; more like white pepper as opposed to the heavier dark type and not overwhelming by any means. Cedar notes and velvet smoke are just oozing out, I?m elated! Grass returns at the forefront once again and spice leaves faster than it came, leaving me with woody/hay goodness.

3/3 ? Cigar picks up in body here, I feel like I'm wearing a silk shirt, you know you?ve got something special on you today! Barnyard notes are easy to pick up now, hay and if I might say a tad bit of leather (not a dominant flavour by any means though); this puro doesn?t lack complexity at all! I can?t stop drawing but I force myself to let it rest to keep the heat down so it can be nubbed. Spice returns again but becomes heavier this time, finishing with some of that cream coming back in and grassiness/hay flavour.

Just as I thought the flavours were going to stay like this I get cream pouring through in abundance, grass become stronger than ever before with spice tingling all over the mouth (it?s like the rollers do so to leave you a reminder you just smoked a divine cigar). I originally put this at lower spectrum of medium-bodied but definitely picked up without realising; due to the complexity of flavours you forget about it?s strength but it kicked me up the arse as I was nubbing. It?s just too damn tasty, never have I smoked such a complex stick that gives me these kind of flavours, no wonder they sell their puros at that price. Overall it made my evening something to remember and reminds me once again why the Cohiba is my favourite brand; I don?t know how they do it, but they do!

Overall it would be very difficult for me to score this anywhere under a 92/93, it stops at that boundary (instead of going any higher) simply because the burn wasn?t razor-sharp and needed quite a few touch ups; even though I'm sure this was down to being out of a humidor for nearly 2 days!

Thank-you Tommy once again for this smoke, gave me at least 1 hr 20 mins of heaven! Didn?t expect to write so much but what can I say it was just a magnificent, elegant stick

    Wow… what a review.
Sounds similar to a Cohiba Robusto I smoked when I first got in to cigars.
Although yours sounds like it's on another level.
I hope I get to sample something like that!
    Thanks - great review.

Had a tubed one couple years ago. Did nothing for me.
I'm gonna have to try one again from a box or cab...

Well then, that was a super review. It makes me happy that you put into words so well the notes and experience that I enjoy so much. That was a nice read indeed. I like these with a soft old brandy to appreciate both to the max, yes the brandy masks some if the subtle flavours but its worth loosing those to get the wonderful sweet and savoury combo. HH you've done the cigar proud, I hope to see more of your writing.

Marc, I was going to bomb you one of these for your birthday but only had one in the desktop. I'll bring you one when I see you that will knock your socks off. I honestly can't remember what I put in your birthday bomb but I think it was shirt smokes, I definitely have one of these in my humi for you pal. What date is your birthday again?

I'm glad you (and others) enjoyed the review, was an amazing smoke but it has left me with a big problem now I'm not quite sure when or which cigar will top this one in the ratings?! I'm now in search of smoking through every Cohiba in the range to attempt finding one that at least matches the flavour bomb that this stick is. Truly amazing! I've heard the lanceros and esplendidos offer complexity aswell due to their length but I'll have to see. Plus that way I can return the favour to you aswell and maybe, just maybe with the help of the Habanos Gods you can have an unexpected experience come through the post one day

I've got a notepad back home aswell with tasting notes on other cigars; I definitely have a Cohiba Maduro 5 secretos review somewhere that I never posted up. I have quite a few new cigars coming in the next few weeks aswell, I'll do most of them since you guys liked this post

Yeah that is a conundrum. Have you tried an HdM short Pyramide? It's totally different but very nice at half the cost. As for nice things in the post, I've been pretty well looked after[emoji1]
