Oliva - Mitchell Orchant Selection 'Skinny'
Mitchell Orchant Oliva 'Skinny'.
This my favourite and most smoked NC brand - I love the Oliva and the peppery strong tastes you can get from them. Found a load once when I was in Malta and smoked them the whole holiday.
As we smoke:
Lovely smell to the unlit cigar - will definitely drive you to smoke it. Good wrapper, dark, but I wouldn't say it was oily.
Lighting it and first draw - draw is perfect, though the base of the cigar the filler didn't look greatly packed the cut of the top shows it nicely jammed and the draw is bang on. A definite strong taste immediately from the first toke; nothing like a CC I've ever had.
First inch: quite bitter, lots of smoke, after few few mm becoming very peppery - very Oliva. Strong zest. Already, this isn't for the faint hearted - make sure you're on a full stomach and have a drink to hand.
Developing now nearly into the first half, the harshness has gone away and the strong flavour is coming through with an overall smoothness. Nice white ash typical of a non-Cuban.
Past the half and the burn is bang on. The flavour stays very constant until the end - thus not much more to write, very NC - strong, very Oliva, lots of complexity and a well-rounded cigar.
A nice cigar, impressed. Was quite harsh in the very early first inch but smoothed out and had a very complex palette. Very strong though, one for after dinner for me! The strength won't be for everyone, and certainly not newbies - I won't be able to smoke more than one at a time.
Someone asked another if the strongness was meant in either nicotine or flavour. I think it's predominately the latter but found it hard to tell as I was drinking coffee at the time.
