• Jose L. Piedra Petit Cazadores - first review

    Hi folks!

Since I am in the phase of trying the stuff out (steered away from my usual, easily accessible choices in local store) I thought I'd order one stick that didn't have too good reviews (but wasn't brave enough to try Guantanamera! ). The choice was JLP Cazadores, which I ordered from Mysmokingshop along with few other bits. Order was placed on Saturday, despatched yesterday, arrived today. Good service from Steve!

    Construction

Very spongy and quite uneven in few spots. Could feel some lumps and bumps, but nothing really major. What I didn't like a lot was damaged wrapper just below the cap. Guess postie had some fun with the parcel - I'm not sure how he pushed it through the letterbox . Foot was also damaged a little - there was missing chunk of filler, but am sure that can't be blamed on manufacturer.

Nowt too bad about this cheap stick so far - I've seen far worse. Smell was not as bad as I expected after reading some comments. In fact it seemed just like any other cheap cigar, but without nastiness of some of them. What "caught" my attention was band - just plain print, nothing fancy, but not terrible either. Wrapper had some funny 'hairy' feeling to the touch.

    Burn

I punched it with keyring bullet punch as my cutters have gone somewhere and I couldn't find them. Draw was a bit too loose, but that could be expected. Burn quite even, smoke nice but not too thick and not stinky as some people have said - which is an important factor if her indoors is not into cigars . Ash stayed on for reasonable time too

    Taste

Just plain and simple taste of tobacco throughout. It was not bad taste, but nothing really interesting. Few hints of earth and something buttery with spice at 3rd 3rd . No any nasty aftertaste whatsoever.

I managed to stretch it to about 40-45 minutes. Given price of this stick (about 4.50 or so) - it was a good time. Think I will buy more soon, just to have everyday smoke that is not terrible and costs reasonable money.

All in all - not perfect, not bad, but much better than Chinchalero or any other c**p that can be bought at petrol station. Would I recommend it? Not sure. But I am sure I wouldn't say no to another one (box).

    Cheers
    Tom

PS - If you find any mistakes, and I mean any - please point them out. It is obvious that I am just starting up with this hobby and English is not my first language too - so something might be off with this review.

That's a good review Tom Major.
I have these down as one of my dog walking smokes! Cheap & cheerful if you will.
Perfect for walking, if it's a little windy or dull it doesn't matter!

Thanks for the review. These are best bought while on holiday in europe. They can be had about 4x cheaper than. You got that one which makes them a complete bargain in my opinion.

Good review (hard to make JLP sound interesting) but as Marc says, they are just a euro or so abroad, biggest mark up of all Habanos in the UK!

I really enjoy jlps, that's sweet tangy Cuban taste is just what you need when your busy doing other things. For the price there is not really anything better from outside Cuba
