    Tatuaje Black Label Petit Lancero
    Next in my NC reviews.
6x38, Nicaragua Puro. Described as full flavour.

Beautiful looking stick, great size for me too. Feels soft and almost under filled. Pre light is straight up tea with a surprisingly good draw.
It has a regular tobacco smell.

1/3: Sweet tobacco, plenty of smoke and lovely white ash. Burn is totally acceptable if a little quick. Slight chemical after taste.

2/3: The chemical flavour is really coming through and leaving a bitter after taste, if i wasnt reviewing i would ditch this now. I will stick with it but am having to drink to clear my palette. Im also purging .

Im really starting to wish i was smoking a cuban.

3/3: less chemicalsl but otherwise its much of a muchness.

Over all.... Pretty dissatisfied, wish i had picked a cuban up. A PL Montecarlo would likely have been cheaper and would have certainly been a WHOLE lot better.

Would i smoke again..... If given i would to be polite.

Would i buy a box.... Hell no!

Yes these chemical tastes, as ammonia, are very common when too young... settle it down for 6 months.. surely will improve.

I have had these for at least 18 months

I think to be picking up ammonia is unlikely. My understanding is that the vast majority of, if not all, NCs are sold on the basis of being 'good to go' ROTT.

I mentioned that earlier in another thread. They sell them as good to go, but they are often not good to go. Pretty much every NC I had so far benefitted from aging them 6-12 months.

Yes, you're no doubt right Niela, but I suspect that the benefits of ageing aren't as pronounced as some Cubans, due to processing differences Where's your earlier post?

And given the age of this i think its just how it tastes unfortunately.

It is a shame about the stick, but great review all the same VTG.
Thank you for taking the time and hanging in there with it.

If a lancero is your thing you might like to try an NC RyJ

Sounds like a bit of a pooh stick, shame. Thanks for the review all the same.

The difference is that many NCs use pre aged tobacco, while CCs are usually rolled from the same year's harvest. So a NC is potentially mixed from tobacco many different years of age, some old, some new. I think that's why it's more crucial with CC than with NCs. I usually buy some samplers of NCs and often find them absolutely delicious. Every time I bought a box afterwards, the smoke was very harsh and not enjoyable at first. A year later they came around to the same sweet blissful flavour I got from the sampler.

In this case, given that the cigar already had 18 months on it, I would say it's just not a great blend.

I don't think Habanos roll the same year's harvest these days TBH. I'll get back with something.

ELs use older tobaccos, but the rest should be 'fresh' afaik. But I could be wrong...
