So After a few months in Humidor and the fact its quite a nice late afternoon, I decided to try one of the Reyes for the first time, I've heard great things about this cigar and so went into this with expectations, I also decided to have a classic ale this afternoon to go with it opting for the Old Peculier

So lets start with the pre light draw, ooh what lovely almost white chocolate hit I got from that, a faint hint of what I can best describe as like a caramac bar the first time I have had such a hint of anything like that on a pre light. So far so good, the cigar cut nicely and the draw was spot on getting a very even burn.

So onto the first puff, nice amounts of smoke that filled the mouth very easily and then the exhale and bam some slight nuttiness but with a very woody feel interesting followed by a wonderful hit of that white chocolate/caramac creamy flavour and of course the usual tobacco taste, as I progressed through the Reyes the creamy hit became more noticeable undercut with that woody nutty flavour.

The Creamy hit and woody nut flavour remained throughout with a spicy kick towards the end and a stronger tobacco hit as you would expect getting towards the end. Smoking time of about 45-50 minutes and boy was this a delight a real treat without a doubt. I think though that with even more time that creamy caramc flavour will become more pronounced and when I come back to this in about 6 months time I expect this to be even more of a treat.

As it was with about 2 months in the humi this was a delight with even more time I dare say this may be one of the best smaller cuban smokes but boy does it last like a big boy not a short smoke, this has to be savoured and enjoyed, really pleased with this and looking forward to how pronounced the flavours will be after a bit more time.

This cigar is a must for any collection very very nice.

Give them around 2-3 years & they are sublime

        This is exciting news, wayne_w!

Apparently, don TJ had a habit of taking two cigars from each box and setting them aside for aging. I found a whole box of Trinidad Reyes that he was aging ranging from 2004 to 2008.

I may try one of the 2008s later since they are fresher.

I'm sure you will enjoy it immensely Ricky Bobby. Most Cubans with at least 3 yrs are perfect

Thanks, wayne_w. Unfortunately, all of don TJ's Reyes are from 8 to 12 years old.

Perhaps I'll visit a shop and pick up something with 3 years, as you suggest.

With that much age on the cigars I think they will be exquisite. I was only saying at least 3 years for the newer members. Any more & they will be extremely tasty

Thanks again, wayne_w. AS one of the newer members (although the account is as old as they come LOL), I'm very confused about old vs. new cigars. But I'll keep doing my research and sort this puzzle out!

If anybody comes looking for me, I'll be elbow deep in the archives.

Nice review and I agree with Wayne, a little age makes a lovely cigar sublime

I've recently smoked through a 12 box of Reyes from 2016, they were great, spicy at the start and very cohiba-like at the finish. I probably should have aged some of them but they were so nice as they were I smoked em all.

Damn It, Man! I'm having enough trouble understanding this fresh vs old thing, now you come along and say how good the fresh 2016 cigars are!!!

                      Thanks a lot, lestabantam!
