Whats is it with me and Monte Cristo EL's ?
Took one to smoke on my usual wednesday ritual
The Cigar looked wonderful dark sheen, with a strong wet musky smell to it, very spongy to the touch, cut and the pre-lit draw was extremely easy.
I lit the Cigar and off I went, tons of smoke with the draw being so loose, almost overpower me with smoke
A few more puffs into it and I'm getting hints of Black Cherry and a Woodyness to it, loving it thinking here we go ....then.

About a third of the way through and thats when things started to go wrong, the flavours turned to what I'd call Carbolic Soap not nice at all, I percivered till about the half way stage and had to give up.

I think this Cigar had just gone into it's sick period, just my luck.

Not going to score this one due to it going through it's sick period.

IMO this could turn out to be a very very good Cigar in a few years time
Here's to the next and better one in a 6 months or so

Same here, I've never really been a fan of Monte cigars, but have a real urge to get one of these - especially after I watched the FoH review the other night.

        BUT...

For some reason, this year in particular (and a little last year too), the prices of LEs seem to have become silly. Not just expensive, but silly. I'll probably still get one anyway...

PS. Nice review Deano, got a good idea about what was really nice in the cigar. Alongside the FoH video review it's got me salivating.

Sorry to hear about your experience Seriesteve. Hopefully just a dud (given the general opinion of these) - fingers crossed that the next one will blow your socks off.

I had a similar experience with the sublime, still put a box down (as I will do with the GE). strange how we expect high end cigars to perform young.

I found these to be everything that the Sublime promised. I think this is the star of the '10 EL selection.

              Cheers

                  MC

Just tried my first MC EL 2010 yesterday. Very nice smoke indeed and I thought it smoked considerably better than the normal Edmundo , although IMO the Sublime and the 2006 Robusto are still the ones to beat from MC.

With a couple of years on them though this could be a fantastic smoke.

Thankyou for the review Deano. Love the FOH video reviews as they treat cigars just like us aussies would. Little respect for marketing or the hype, just true honest opinions. These are right up there on my next box purchase list. Cheers mate.
What would I know? I'm just a backwoods roo packin crim from New Holland! LOL. (Thankyou El Cat)
