So despite their "rustic" some might say ugly look I do like, a nice Italian Kentucky Dark Fired Cigar and this is what is on this afternoon in some sunshine.

So prelight the draw is hay, earthy barn yard with just a hit of coffee. So lights nicely draw is snug, which is to be expected, so the initial flavour is a slight coffee earthiness not horrible but on the retro.......oooooh

Damned there some floralness and I'll be damned some Pipe Virginia citrus sweetness that threw me, like I had to take the the next five minutes of puffing and retro to make sure it wasn't a random, one off......nope there is a pipe Virginia citrus raisin floral sweetness on this.

As it progresses the woodiness and tell tell smokey Kentucky fired smell richness comes into it adding a slight pepper dimension to the smoke, the earthiness is now pure coffee earthiness you know that you get from a decent coffee rich earthy in a nice way, and you all know from my prior reviews earthy isn't really my thing but this coupled with the Floral citrus notes is really an interesting and flavourful smoke.

Its one of the most pipe cigar experiences I've had out of a cigar, its gorgeous. As I get past the half way mark, a new note the earthiness now has a salty umami hit on the finish think a twiglet snack along with the still present floral raisin citrus notes wow OK this is good.

For what they are, this was a great smoke flavourful, room note is pure woody stank so not a friendly room note, a Marmite room note some will like it others will hate it.

A good hour to go through this, now my only advice get them on visits to Italy or other places not here the UK price for these sticks is crazy, and frankly with my go to cigar being the Inkas Red Half Corona which still offer the best value in terms of price and flavour I adore them and nothing has best them yet.

This was a great smoke, I'm told very reminiscent of the Pipe Blend Three Nuns (which I've yet to try so can't verify this assertion......yet....)

Living in Italy since now 7 months I've tried a few Toscanos. They're generally not to my liking though. The fire and smoke cured tobacco is far from what I’m used to in mainly Cuban cigars.

The Toscano comes in a million different types and brands, some machine made short filler and some long filler and hand rolled (I have a whole book about them generously donated to me by an Italian tobacconist).
A month ago I was recommended to try another one: the Nostrano . Totally different story. Pure tobacco, same format as Toscano, smoke whole or cut in half. Still a cheap smoke, and actually pretty good if you need 20-30 min+ of cigar smoke.

These looks like Toscana/toscani cigars you supposed to cut them in the middle and smoke, so one cigar is actually two small cigars

Well the ones I show are not Toscanos (as I write).
You can smoke them whole or as said cut in half for shorter smoking time

Yeah actually if you go back through the reviews you'll see I've had the Nostrano and I was a big fan of those Italian Puros.

Italico is all you can get over here if you fancy a Toscanini type style stick, and they can be smoked as a whole or in half for a bervia style smoke.
