    Partagas ? Partagas Serie P No. 2
    Size: 156mm x 52 ? Piramide
    Smoke time: 1hour 30mins

Cigar box date: POS ENE 06. Source:- http://www.jjfox.co.uk

Appearance: Excellent. Oily, mid-natural brown wrapper with soft mottleing like a subtle camouflage. The veining has an almost Jurassic, fossil-like appearance which makes it look as if it?s imbedded in the wrapper rather than on the wrapper.

Construction: Easy ?pinch? with the cigar feeling generally solid, but with a slightly yielding spot around the two-third point. The pre-light aroma was tobacco and dark chocolate. The pre-draw was fine. The smoking-draw was easy, possibly a bit too easy throughout the smoke. The burn was good(ish) for two thirds after which it became wayward and generally un-attractive. The ash had the usual Cuban grey colouring and was generally compact. One tap off. One fall off.

Flavour: A game of two halfs. The initial flavours were excellent with woods to the fore and the customary Cuban twangy sweetness behind. The sensation at this point was one of having my teeth coated with a film of woodsy/lemony sweetness. Around the inch mark, the peppers, which I had been anticipating, entered the flavours mix. The blend these created was mild, mellow and very enjoyable. So much so that I let my mind wander for a bit and forgot to do the review job of identifying ?reminiscent? tastes. At the half way the peppers did for a puff or two start to get more aggressive and I expected/hoped the flavours and the strength of the SP2 ? because that is it?s reputation ? might begin to increase. It didn?t. Instead the flavours became drab and confused and I got none of the expected nicotine strength hit whatsoever. Worse, I was also picking-up an unpleasant tarriness in the mouth. I dealt with it by snipping away a sixteenth inch from the flute, unfortunately I forgot to hold the cigar over the ashtray and in snipping caused the ash to fall on the floor. I did persevere on for a bit, but with the flavour not improving and the burn by then all-over-the-place, called it a day.

Overall: OKish, nice for a while. To be honest, I was expecting a runaway train. Instead I got a mucky-arsed four year old pushing a pram. So, to my mind for now, 13 quid poorly spent although on the plus side the appearance and burn time were pretty good.

Good review Tippex. Shame you didn't love this cigar. I do find them a bit hit or miss sometimes. I've smoked about 40 or so over the years my first box being when they first came out.
I bought a box of 10 a year ago and they're now all gone but of the 10, six were excellent, two were a bit mehh, and two were plugged. When you get a good-'un they're excellent but I've found inconsistencies......

          Another great review tippex, thanks.

Like you I expected this to be the strong contender as I have only experienced good things with the P2.

I must have smoked 100 or more and the only bad one I had the one I bought at the heathrow airport which was one of the 3 tubos. I love Partagas SPN2 but not as much as the MC N2

I'm not giving up on the P2 Monkey, it's reputation is totally the opposite to my findings, I can only think I got a 'duff' one.

nice reviews arf!!! it's a pity that most piramides don't come in boxes of 10 (except the monte2 and party2)....... i'd love a few of the h upmann's to try, but would never splash out on a 25 box!!! same as the VR unicos & bolivar BF's!!! ah well......

btw, splendid reviews!!! i am perplexed you didn't like the party P2, it's gotta be one of the best out there (i've had damn near 20 in the last few months, all crackers)!!!

Never had a bad P2, only good or great. Most of the 08 Tubos were great imo.

I think you may have been unlucky. These are my most reliably good cigars. My experience with Cohibas has always been poor but I've had lots of nice Partagas!
