Note: Hecto a Mano, but I?m guessing (by the short smoke time) short filler. I have smoked these before. But, for this exercise I bought several not for the cigar, but for the tubes. I?m going to be spending Xmas and New Year in non-smoking houses, so if I?m going to get a smoke it has to be something flavoursome, which I can slip into my pocket, nip outside with, and smoke before anyone really notices I?ve been gone. My longer smoke time CUBAN Entreacto fit the bill nicely.

The HdM Hoyo du Marie I will try to Review before Xmas.
It struck me, that many of our younger, less married Members will be going to parties, discos, queuing and waiting for taxi?s and transport or worse walking home over the Xmas period, so a short, easy to carry smoke might be just the thing.
Appearance: Plain natural coloured wrapper with very little surface veining. The cigar is one of several in the La Rica range and is presented in the corporate cadmium yellow with black cap, cedar lined tube.
Construction: Easy pre-draw. Easy smoking draw. Wayward start, but a reasonably constant burn thereafter. The ash did not inspire confidence and required frequent tapping off.
Flavour: The cigar starts very well on a light milky/vanilla/caramel which reminded me of sweet rice pudding. This was maintained throughout the first half and punctuated by the occasional note of sweet citrus. Into the second half, and for a few puffs, the flavour takes on an almost meatlike quality akin to sweet lamb cutlets. This receeds and is replaced by something I don?t have in my flavours bank, but is very, richly pleasant nevertheless. The strength of the flavours is full, nothing is muted and there is a total absence of pepper or anything chemical or tarry in the finish.
Overall: Very good. I enjoyed it. Not a long lasting smoke .... but hey! .... for under 2 quid?
