Not sure of the exact vitola, I suspect it is the corona size though, as this one was gifted my Mitch at Cgars but this one was a real surprise.
I had expected it to be a mild morning smoke as most Macanudos are but how wrong can you be
The cigar has a dark, toothy wrapper with one or two veins evident and smells awesome pre light. I used a punch on this one and it left a perfect hole. Draw was absolutely spot on and produced lots of thick smoke.
First tastes were medium bodied with toasty notes that complemented my Peroni beer exceptionally well. Ash was solid and light grey holding for over an inch before I tapped it off as I didn't fancy wearing it
As the cigar warmed up and got into the first third it began to produce some surprising spice and pepper, reminiscent of Padrons and Fuente Hemmingway series, unusual for a Macanudo for sure...even the aroma was warm and spicy
As you get into the second third the cigar evens out into a nice solid smoke and the thick clouds of flavoursome smoke just keep on coming. I keep expecting the cigar to turn slightly bitter, as some stronger cigars have a tendency to do, but no hint of this at all, probably the Macanudo pedigree shining through here.
As the cigar nears it's end it still keeps giving nutty flavours with some kick, all in all a real change for Macanudo and one I would keep in for a nice after dinner smoke. This one would finish off a strong meal quite nicely in my opinion so I am keen to try another one after a spicy meal now.
For a cigar that retails for less than ?9 a pop this is one I would recommend you try.
