  • Rocky Patel Connecticut Toro

This is the first Rocky Patel that I have had in a long while, and it was good to try one again. This particular cigar has received mixed reviews and has certainly left me with mixed feelings.

    Description
With a name like Rocky Patel behind it, this cigar will already have a huge waiting audience. Furthermore, with a perfect shape and around six inches in length, this cigar could be Rocky Patel’s new crown jewel. The truth, however, is in the smoke.

    Review
The actual cigar itself is a decent size and is great for a smoke when you’re not rushed. The actual rolling of the cigar is also very high quality, as is obvious if you look closely at the seams on the wrapper. Throughout the smoke, the cigar also holds together very well, and can keep the ash up to about an inch and a half.

Before lighting the cigar you get a smell of sweetness, almost like a caramel scent. You can also pick up on hints of nuts and a very light, yet sweet, spiciness. The smell is very difficult to break down and describe, but it all blends very well.

As you start to smoke the cigar, you notice the sweetness and the nuttiness far more with the other features gradually reduced. After a while, the cigar will start to become smooth and creamy, but will still maintain its original flavours. Towards the end, the creamy texture and sweetness dies away, and leaves you with more woody notes.

When lighting this cigar, be aware that it takes a long time before you get an even burn, so don’t panic if you can’t get it right at the beginning.

    Indian Giver!

Thanks for the review, senor Jay. As I've mentioned before, I was a big fan on the RP predecessor - Indian Tabac, but have not been as big of a fan of the RP sticks in recent years, with the exception of the Vintage line.

Hey TJ! I noticed the lad modified the post to add a few spaces between the lines....smart move I say.

Yes I know what you mean, they still seem to put a lot of care into the making of their cigars. But the recent ones have been a little off key compared to their older range.

Unfortunately, I didn't think to take any photos for my upcomming reviews, but I'll make sure I get a snap for the reviews in the future.
