Friend in Malta

Once again looking for some advice. Have tried two hoyo epi 2s and loved them but wonder if the epi1 or especiale are similar?

A very good friend of mine is in Malta and I've seen online the below pricing. Seems very good and thinking of asking him to purchase a few for me:

10 x epi especiale- ?88
25 x epi2 - ?185

Also spotted these, no idea what they're like:

20 x Monte master - ?160

Something else tried and liked:

25 x monte PE - ?180

Something I haven't tried:

10 x monte sublimes - ?190

Whilst sure they're legit anything he can check for when in store?

If they're legit, and I'm hoping they are. The price seems to good to pass up!

Any suggestions?

that all sounds great, and it's good to hear your friend is willing to pick some up for you (what are friends for)!

most here would agree that the HDM epi 1 & 2 are tasty, light to medium bodied smokes!!! most of us here started off with them..... the epi especial is my favourite of the bunch!!! it's stronger than the rest and much more tastier!!!

as the monte sublimes are thin on the ground, i'd recommend you get them for sure!! can't think of anything else..... oh how about some h upmann's? bolivar and h upmann are my favourite brands at the moment, can't recommend them enough!!! byw, what size do you smoke (robusto? petite corona? churchill?)? this may help with recommendations.......

You can't go wrong with the Monte Sublimes and the PE, also HDM are one of my everyday favourite, go to brands....

I'm still trying as many different smokes as possible. Used to smoke a lot of RyJ no2. More recently have been enjoying robustos.

2 cigars that really stick out - epi2 and PE

good good...... as you can tell by my handle on here, i love my robustos!!! some are available in boxes of 10, such as the bolivar royal corona, partagas d4, RyJ short churchills, monte petite edmundo (i know, it's not a robusto, but it's close enough)!

the HDM epicure especial is available in boxes of 10!!! other favourites of mine that are available in boxes of 10 are:
h upmann magnum 50 (a double robusto)
partagas 898 varnished (lonsdale/ cervantes)
montecristo no.2 (piramide)
any of the cohiba maduro range (secretos, magicos, genios)
any of the trinidad range (they come in boxes of 12! recommend fundadores)

depending on the duty free limit, why not select a variety on boxes of 10?

The Sublimes. That's not a bad price .... and they are increasingly difficult to find now.

So called them up this morning. Not that many boxes of 10s.

My friend is gonna go to store on Saturday and call me.

The guy in the shop was busy at the time but managed to get some info..

10 x sublimes - ?192
25 x epi 2 - ?185
25 x epi esp - ?206
10 x mag50 - ?88

Don't want silly amounts and would have preferred a few boxes of 10s as you said.

Having never had the epi esp but loving the epi2 is it worth the extra moola?

If it were me, remembering I'm no big robustos fan, looking at 10s I might be inclined to go something like this.

Monte Sublimes (definately)
HdM Petit Piramides
Bolivar Gold Medal
Monte No 2
Trinidad Robusto T (SBN12)

Alex is right in that Partagas 898 do come packed 10, but they're quite rare and not easy to find.

You can't go wrong with the Monte Sublimes

I'm sorry but you actually can go wrong with the Monte Sublime. There are very bad boxes with underfilled, poorly constructed cigars that taste gross… You don't want to play the €190 lottery do you?

In the other hand the Petit Edmundo is consistently good in my experience…

another vote for the PE's as a fairly safe bet.

Unless you're very lucky and stumble across a box in Spain or Cuba, you won't find a box of Monte Sublimes for anything near as low as €190. Anywhere.
The last box in Dublin sold last week for €290. It's over a year since they were common in London.
All the rest you mention can be found for less and aren't getting rarer.
