I have always found airports to be bad news when it comes to cigars. Storage, handling, choice and most of all price. Many airports know that they are a last port of call for purchases before leaving a country and the buyer is captive to their selection and price. I never buy at airports but usually manage to find shops where I get better cigars at lower - sometimes much lower - prices. Certainly when travelling from the US or most european countries, I pack loose cigars rather than boxes, hopefully to avoid import duty when I get back to the UK. A box, even with a few cigars missing, will almost always attract duty if discovered.

Why? As long as you have no more than 50 it's duty free.Originally posted by DavidD View PostI have always found airports to be bad news when it comes to cigars. As I understand it there should be no problem if it is 50 sticks or less as this is an individuals duty free allowance (boxed or loose). Over 50 is a whole different discussion (and apart from legal declaration not one for this forumOriginally posted by DavidD View PostI have always found airports to be bad news when it comes to cigars. Having once had a lengthy lecture at Heathrow from a Customs officer that 'duty free' is a concession and not a right, I have always erred on the side of caution when bringing in either booze or cigars, especially when I travelled from distant parts.

I'd have loved that conversation. By splitting singles it makes it look more like smuggling though. The new charity auction: http://www.ukcigarforums.com/showthr...lighter-raffle
