I would love to see some stats on the rise or fall of cancer / health issue before and after smoking was band in pubs and clubs. Also the economic stats of the same bar, town, city and so on.

Just read on Sky news that Millennium Square and Anchor Square on Bristol's harbourside are to become Britain's first outdoor spaces to become smoke free zones. Cross that off the list of places to go for a weekend away.'Cigars are a hobby, cigarettes an addiction'

I also discovered yesterday that some Norwegian Cruise Line ships although having a cigar lounge do not permit smoking of cigars around the pool or on some of the balconies where cigarette smoking is permitted. Not very sociable is it.'Cigars are a hobby, cigarettes an addiction'

Yip there putting signs up that are not legally enforceable and they are not going to enforce it.Originally posted by PeeJay View PostJust read on Sky news that Millennium Square and Anchor Square on Bristol's harbourside are to become Britain's first outdoor spaces to become smoke free zones. How can you make an outdoor area smoke free? Ridiculous.
I remember a few years ago at a festival when some woman asked me to stop smoking. No thanks love, we're outside in a giant field, move away if you don't like it.

Exactly, a spokesperson was quoted as saying that she expected it to police itself so expect a load of smoke hating do-gooders being a pain in the arse. I'd rather just avoid it in the first place.Originally posted by rascal View PostYip they're putting signs up that are not legally enforceable and they are not going to enforce it.'Cigars are a hobby, cigarettes an addiction'

We [the city of toronto] just made smoking illegal on all patios, bars, restaurants, parks, beaches, and other 'City owned properties'.Originally posted by parnaby View PostHow can you make an outdoor area smoke free? Ridiculous.

Lmao - WOW.Originally posted by PeeJay View PostThey could enforce it by passing a bye-law if they wanted to. We have legally enforceable alcohol free zones in our borough. Step 1 - you're asked to move on, step 2 - you're nicked
It's like a whole new planet there!! :alien:. It's a world where banning smoking outdoors is ludicrous, where alcohol can be consumed in public, and where there's a crazy new element called "aluminium".
Weeeeeeiiiiiiiiird.
When will you "Britianitians" learn!?
. I can't wait until your new planet becomes advanced like ours where drinking alcohol in public will give you a death sentence. And I can't believe you're still flooding our atmosphere with delirious gases - DO THAT AT HOME or at least in the car with a 12 year old kid every day!!
Now...... about that aluminium.

I actually quite like the sound of that- I'd probably sooner have a comfortable, dedicated space to enjoy a smoke with other cigar smokers than play dodge the idiot around the pool!Originally posted by PeeJay View PostI also discovered yesterday that some Norwegian Cruise Line ships although having a cigar lounge do not permit smoking of cigars around the pool or on some of the balconies where cigarette smoking is permitted. It's been on all the local news today, absolute disgrace imo.Originally posted by PeeJay View PostJust read on Sky news that Millennium Square and Anchor Square on Bristol's harbourside are to become Britain's first outdoor spaces to become smoke free zones. I've smoked around the area a few times, and can honestly say that even I sat in the middle of millennium square when it was really busy (I'd ducked out of the Drillstock festival to enjoy a Siglo I and meet some mates who were also attending- as it was too crowded to smoke or meet inside the event site!) I've always managed to find myself a nice, quiet spot within the square and away from others (I don't like smoking around others out of courtesy despite only ever receiving complements when enjoying a cigar in public)
What made me laugh was the no doubt totally objective, fair and representative opinion polls and statistics used on ITV Points West to reflect public opinion, all paid for by...
.. Smokefree South West.
Utter, utter bollocks. And this from someone (me) who is normally very anti cigarette smoking.

I'd rather sit with my wife by the pool and enjoy a cigar than leave her for an hour and a half on her own.'Cigars are a hobby, cigarettes an addiction'

There not by laws. For the drinking zones. They could propose a by law but doubt the government would approve it. There is more to it than a council just deciding to create one thankfully.Originally posted by PeeJay View PostThey could enforce it by passing a bye-law if they wanted to. Technically your correct, they're Designated Public Place Orders under The Criminal Justice and Police Act 2001, one wonders how much effort it would require to add an amendment including smoking. However a local authority could still propose a bye law prohibiting smoking in a certain area if they were so motivated.Originally posted by rascal View PostThere not by laws. For the drinking zones.
