Not at all. It is a good recommendation, they are great little lighters. I buy them by the dozen and hand them out. They last me on average about 12 months. I'm clumsy with lighters though, that's why I don't buy expensive ones.Originally posted by butternutsquashpie View PostCheck and mate.
Fair point, Andy. But the dx.com recommendation is still good for anyone who reads this thread in the future. So i'm not entirely useless
Shipping from DX can take 6 weeks though.

When I travel, I bring a box of cigar matches.
When I travel to Cuba I bring boxes of cigar matches and 2 of the DX lighters, empty.
I fill them when I get there in a cigar shop and leave them behind me when I leave. Bar staff love them.
It's one of the nice things about those lighters. It would be very easy to show to an airport security person that it is empty. Though I've never been asked. I brought one back from Cuba last February that still had gas in it. No problem in Havana and no problem in Paris. If it had been taken I'd have lost $2.50. Not a big deal.

One or two of the cigar shops in Havana, The Havana Libre for example, always has gas. I buy a cigar or two and ask them for a refill. They send those bottles out in the evening to get refilled. With what, I don't know, but it burns.Originally posted by PeeJay View PostYou were lucky to find gas Ryan, I couldn't find gas or even matches in the DR, had to buy those silly little clipper lighters

Cheers, I've got a couple now on route.Originally posted by Ryan View PostThe difference between knowledge and wisdom.
Knowledge is knowing that dx.com do very, very good cheap jet lighters.
Specifically this one http://www.dx.com/p/compact-1300-c-b...9#.VazCFKRVhBc
Wisdom is knowing there's not a snowball's chance of a delivery from them arriving before Johnny Thunder starts his holidays..

How did they not get picked up by security, they look like little incendiary bombs! mad_bomber.jpeg'Cigars are a hobby, cigarettes an addiction'

Great! I hope you like them as much as I do.Originally posted by Seegarnub View PostAnd the 3 have arrived![emoji2]
Be careful giving them to friends to light their cigars. I've lost at least three of them over the years from people not listening how to open them. Then forcing the top open and breaking it. It's simple but some people just can't figure them out.
