So really 24 hours is too long and we only really need to freeze for about 4 hours.

Unless you want to be sure they are really really dead!

True. I'm not sure I'd be happy if they were just dead

Does look like 24 hours is enough....I was doing 48 hours before..but 24 seems more like it.

I think I will stick to the tried and tested 2-3-2 method. It has not let me down so far.
All smokes I have frozen and since smoked, tasted great. It does seem that 24 is good enough though.
I guess it is just personal preference.

I have been off line for a couple of days ^& just saved this chart form FB to show here, you beat me to it Sham Just a tip, when it says 4 hrs, it doesn't mean 4hrs in your freezer! It means 4hrs when the contents have reached -20oC, this might only take an our or so if freezing a few sticks in cellophane & a zip lock but if freezing a whole box might be a fair bit longer, 24hrs minimin sound fair, as Johnny & PJ said 48hrs hasn't done ours any harm but a week is certainly pushing it Still maybe I killed most of any mould spores present too.

That's a good point...I was not thinking time in the freezer not cigar temperature...like Johnny & pj suggested might as well stick to the method that has always worked.
