Amsterdam?

Hi all,

Been thinking about a day trip, very cheap flights etc and easily done in a day.

I know there are plenty of good tobacconists there and although we can't discuss specifics on here, could anyone advise on Holland prices. Is it worth my while.

I found one Dutch online store that was fairly cheap but others don't seem to advertise prices.

Again - general advice wanted only, I am not asking for specifics.

I have previously been 3 times, long ago in my pre Cigar years and sampled all the local delights................

But now I want a quick smash and grab mission- if its worth it.

The prices were not great last time i went. About 20-25% cheaper than UK prices.
Probably best to get a cheap flight to to Gibraltar if your only going on a cigar mission.

+1 for Gibraltar. There are some really good deals off season. Giving serious thought to staying a night or two drinking in the Marina, gambling in the casino and bringing back 50 of cuban's finest. Prices around 1/2 to 1/3 of uk prices.

I always find a day trip to calais is more cost effective than Amsterdam, have done calais and bolougne several times and made a good saving. It also depends what your looking for too.

Whilst Amsterdams nice, theres to many 'other' attractions to make you forget about cigars till its to late!!

Amsterdam seems a long way to go for 'pie' , especially travelling all the way from 'State of Mind' Mexico.

Can't you get good 'pie' at home?

From what I've seen the 'pie' in South America looks very fine indeed (and particularly good VFM!).

Are you having trouble finding someone who serves good 'pie'?

Is there anything we more fortunate BOTL can do to help Senor?

I am after Cuban and some fine non Cuban smokes, but the main focus is Cuban. Does Calais and Boulougne fit the bill?

I like the idea of Amsterdam as its so close and cheap to fly to, lots of discipline required once I arrive though.

I definatley want to stay in the EU as the thought of limiting myself to 50 is depressing, I would definately run the risk and no doubt end up crying at a customs desk.

Hmmmmm, I'm not quite sure how to respond to this insane post, so I will turn things back over the chico fatone, since he appears to be very serious about this thread and his quest to score some puros and "fine non-cuban cigars" (what ever that is) in Amsterdam!

i just moved on from amsterdam after staying there for a few nights, amsterdam has been the most expensive place we have stayed in so far (more expensive than paris!) so take plenty of money, most tobacanists have a reasonable cigar sellecetion, they sell every kind of panter brand wich is great! try the sprint or the du lux! of course if you fancy a break from cigars there are alternatives on offer...
