A I understand it in the UK you are allowed (within the rules of the ban) to 'sample a box' in certain retail outlets. This is what allows smoking of cigars purchased on the premises.

You are indeed allowed to sample a cigar in a cigar store where the majority of their income comes from cigar sales etc. I have sat in stores in London since the ban and selected a cigar and smoked it while in the store...enjoyed it as well

Agreed, sometimes I kind of revel in the revulsion from others when I fire up!

I don't do it to annoy though, I was hassled recently for smoking in a park!

How fracking public and open air can you get.

It was also 11:00am and the park was virtually empty!

Is it true that the bar in the houses of parliment is the only one left in England where you can still smoke? (wouldnt surprise me)
Having only just aquired the cigar hobby, I now appreciate how annoying it is that I cant enjoy a good meal somewhere and then light up for a relaxing cigar.

To be fair chaps, im a cigarette smoker as well as a stogie lover and i must admit, i hate it when someone sparks up next to me if im having a meal. I detest it !

However the first thing i do once ive finished my meal is light up.

Im just a weird one i guess :P

I can totally see why the ban is in place and it was probably a big help to me as it came into force in the UK not long after I quit cigarettes. I fail to see why there can't be more exemptions as well though. It couldn't be that hard to create a sealed and ventilated room in a pub that the staff didn't have to go into all the time.

Anyway, you are all welcome to come to my shed for your holidays. I'll get some brochures printed up and see if I can lay some hay down under the workbench as a bed.
