  • Vienna ist kaput

A friend of mine has just returned from a week in Vienna where he stayed with smoking buddies. Apparently Austria had a law change last year and closed all their cigar lounges. The shops are still open for buying only.

I think this is now expected in all EU countries. We know previously from Maastricht LCDH this to be the case in the Netherlands. What about Belgium? Maybe we need a thread on countries where cigar lounges exist. I'll organise my holidays around such info

Do we know if cigars smoking outside bars and cafes and public spaces is allowed in Austria?

I think I may finally have this CAD under control...

Funny enough Frankfurt airport is probably the one airport in the world with the most smoking rooms/lounges, - they’re everywhere

Don’t know anything about Austria, Banos. Has been a while since I’ve been, but as for Belgium there are still a number of smoking lounges available. No law changes in the near future to be foreseen

Good to know Steve, thanks. Same over here at the moment. Although since covid19 there are a lot more voluntary non smoking places.

Just before I left Belgium, I asked the Cafe owner if the internal smoking glass house was open again post Covid? He replied no, &didn't think Merksem Council would allow it to re-open, using Covid to close it for good. Even though he's never received any complaint a from customers. The small minded idiots will do their worst which ever country they are based in.

              Just crazy Simon, I know.

Don’t know if I mentioned before but in canary island, due to COVID, outside smoking on terraces!!!! Is forbidden as well. I fear this rule will never be changed.

              This is for OUTSIDE smoking

That was introduced for the whole of Spain because of COVID with a €2000 potential fine. We need some localised updates for mainland Spain.

Not in Malaga Steve. I'm here just now and they're absolutely determined not to let anyone smoke. No ashtrays anywhere and signs are posted saying No Smoking.... I've wandered past dozens of places and all are stating the same thing. They're saying it's because of Covid but I don't believe that for a second
                      Very frustrating

We've finally found a place down by the harbour and they couldn't give a damn about us smoking. First place I've seen ashtrays!

The shelves are quite bare but I've managed to find some decent stuff.
Discontinued Punch Churchill, old Cedros Deluxe, old Monte Tubos and a few REs plus some Siglo IV
I can only bring back 100 between myself and Susie so I'm off to Torremolinos and Fuengirola over the next few days to see what's available.
