  • Eurostar - possible to take cigar lighter and cutter?

    Hello all,

    A bit of advice required!

I'm likely going on Eurostar to Brussels (and maybe a daytrip to Bruges) later in October and would like to know whether its possible to take a small single jet torch ligher and a small V-cutter on with me, either in my hand luggage or in my pockets?

I see there are two LCDH shops in Brussels, which is all good and an intriguing place in Bruges, Jerry's Cigar Bar - anyone been there and recommend it?

Finally, coming back via Brussels MIDI station, is there a good range of duty free cigars and where would I find them?

    Thanks!

For once a question I feel more than qualified to answer, having lived in Antwerp for 30yrs+ & have commuted on Eurostar many times.
1/ Lighters are fine, Rather than a large table lasar, I would recommend a disposable size laser jet & there'll be no problem with hand carry.
2.]/ V cutter, doubt they have ever seen one. You could try it, of questioned just demonstrate how it's used & how harmless it is. My tip, I carry a punch on my key ring, have taken this around the world, only questioned a couple of times, shown how it works & how you couldn't cut anyone with it & always got through. The only problem I had was with a ceramic bladed cutter that got confiscated after half a dozen trips, at Manchester Airport. She said she'd post it to me, after I purchased jiffy bag & stamp. I wasn't surprised when it never turned up.
3/ No DF at Brussels Train station.
4/ Personally, Jerry's is best LCDH & you can drink beer, which keeps the costs down. I have been to the new one & it's fine but expensiveeee!
5/ Stocks of Cubans are very low in Belgie at present, as elsewhere in Europe.
Have a safe trip & give us feedback on what you found.
