Anyone been lately please and know what the Cuban stock is like please ?

I’m getting married in a few weeks and want to take a nice box of something with me.

I’m there for a 1-day working trip during June and want to know if it’s worth heading to CigarWorld or the LCDH.

You can check on Cigarworld's website but you can't order to the UK. Could try ordering to collect.

I did have a quick nose this morning and almost every Cuban is flagged as “currently unavailable”.

I just wondered if this was actually the case vs. what they’ve physically got in the store.

This is more the case than we see with UK stock which is also at very low levels. Try emailing them to confirm. I've seen some 26 box codes starting to appear so some stuff is getting out.

I was in the city last week. I went to Selected Cigars, the LCDH in the city. Singles only, not much at all. I picked up a single Epi 3 (3 available), and a Punch Princesas (2 available).

Both Selected and Cigarworld gave up updating websites years ago!!

I thought that was the case re their web-shops.

The last time I was at Selected it was singles only and a max of x10 per sale.

I’m going to swing by on Tuesday anyway as have a few hours free in the afternoon.

What was the position with NCs?

                One word…WOW.

This place is mega and the stock levels are unbelievable. Not a huge number of Cubans but with NCs being so good it doesn’t matter.

I’ll list what I got in the proper thread but the prices are mega.

One example being Partagas D5 x25 a box = €469 plus €48 tax available refund (via Global Blue) available making them €421 which is about £365 !!!

Thats 50% cheaper than the current price at GQ.

How does Global Blue work? I've asked about tax free shopping in Germany and Spain and I get met with a blank look as if such a thing doesn't exist.

there is an app you get on your phone to track claim. at the airport there is a form you complete and get your receipts checked. hand in and shortly after obtain a refund f tax. This was for Spain. the app explains a lot

As we’re no longer in the EU we can claim the local VAT back on purchases.

If the shop you’re buying from has the “Global Blue” sticker in the window or at the till then you give them your passport and they generate a form which allows you to claim VAT back. Which is 19% in Germany (although I must admit I was surprised you can do it with tobacco products).

Then at the airport you get Customs to stamp your form and you either wait for the refund (via the app on to your original payment card) or head to the currency exchange at the airport and they will give you the cash minus a handling fee.

it’s normally an easy process but I’m with hand luggage today and the bloody Customs validation area is “airside” and I can only do it 30-mins before boarding. In DUS airport the Customs is in Terminal B and I’m flying from the furthest bloody gate in Terminal A and I’ve got to go thru passport control.
