  • Just received my first delivery...

I have just this week recieved my first package of beautiful cuban tobacco. I bought myself a humidor as a birthday present and can now finally keep cigars that arn't tubed. Here is what i bought tell me what you think.
    • 25 HDM Epicure NO. 1
    • 25 Monte Emundos
    • 12 Trini Reyes

I only recieved these yesterday but i'm starting to think what i will order next (it seems i may be hooked) so any suggestions would be welcome.
    Thanks.
    AW.

Very nice those reyes are good outer the box the others i would put down for at least a month before smoking.

And as for next things to buy i would suggest

Upmann connie 1s for ageing (unless you get a good box with 5+ years on it)
    Upman mag 46
Bolivar petite coronas are always nice (better if you can still find a 50 cab of them)
Diplomatico No2 (cheaper and better than montie 2 IMHO)
El Ray De Mundo Demi Tasse makes a nice morning smoke with a cup of coffee.
Por Larranaga petite coronas are good
same goes for Ramon Allones short club coronas (RASCC) and RA special select (RASS)

ps. some nice drinks to go with your new smokes is always good too.

Both the Trini Reyes and Monte Edmundos are brilliant smokes. You've done well!

The Hoyo Epicure 1's I have not had the privilage to try but from my Hoyo experience they are great!

Thanks for the great suggestions, looks like im going to need another humidor too soon .
The Bolivars are something ive considered getting, i think i would get the monte 2's before the diplomatico as they do a box of 10 i believe.
The rest ive not really thought about before and look like great vitolas, thanks for the ideas.

I wouldn't recommend Boli PC for a beginner, and especially not 25 of them. A good Boli start would be the Bonitas, discontinued now but not impossible to find.
If you want to, you can.
And, if you can, you must!

If you enjoy the Epi 1 then then get some Epi2's, they are a great everyday robusto. I would also reccomend a box of Partagas serise D number 4's. I love these smokes and always try to have some in the humi. The peti Edmundo seems to have a better rep than the full size bad boy, but then I'm no Monte fan! Sounds like you have a good start to your collection.

A massive PLUS 1 on the Epi2's, I'm a bug fan and prefer them to the Epi1's I've tried...

I disagree with this just because the bolis in general are quite full bodied and flavourful dosnt mean a beginner should at least try and few to see if they enjoy them.

Sure they might not pick out every flavour and they might be a little light headed after but they should try a wide verity of sticks and not just start at mild.

I say alexw buy two singles try one if you enjoy it happy days if not put the other in your humi for 6 months or more and come back to it then.

Surprised noone else mentioned it but in my opinion I would leave the Reyes alone, try one by all means but with a couple of years on them they are far superior and really come into their own
                  Andy

Looking for Monte Sublimes if you have any?

I really am trying to leave my box of 2010 Reyes alone for a while longer... but I probably need to invest in another box so that when I'd done leaving the first lot alone the new batch will have come good by then!!!

as a newbie myself i would say monte eds are a great choice!
From my limited kmowledge i would also recommend h upmanns mag 46, and punch punch.

I have ordered some mag 50's, monte nr 2's and some jose l piedra nacionales just to see what the cheap options are like. Hopefully will get to ccc in the toon tomorrow to try a partagas series d4 or cohiba.

                      Keep on puffin'

Great start! I'd urge you to get a thinner ring gauge cigar, like Monte Especial #2,or one of the La Gloria Cubana Medaille d'Or #1, 3, or 4. To me those thinner ring gauge cigars have a richer taste. They take more care to smoke, you can't puff too hard or they'll burn hot. Cohiba Corona Especiales are also great but those are best with significant age IMO. Enjoy your cigars.
