  • RyJ something good other than churchills.

After resorting my humi today rolling all my sticks band side down and generally just clear all the flakes of wrapper that accumulates at the bottom of the humis and i realised something while i smoke a few RyJ churchills and short churchills i dont smoke that many and i almost never touch any of there other stuff.

So i know a few of you guys must smoke more RyJ than me so give some some good suggestions that dont involve the wide churchill or pyramids i was thinking of buying a pair of each of the Cedros de Luxe No. 1-3s and the escudo maduros as they sound nice.

    So suggestions.

The cedros deluxe range are quite similar in profile IMO but all 3 are great smokes. The Duke LE is a beaut as well but seems to be disappearing rapidly....must be popular eh?
Not too keen on the tubo range myself ...fine if you're out and about with no cigars and find them in a pub but not too exciting.
I'm one of the few folks on here who enjoyed the WCs I've tried...quality seems very varied though with lots of complaints of sticks being under-filled

Anyone tried the Ex4 recently? Had a box from 2003 that I think was pretty good at the time and the last few with 8 years on em are brilliant!

Try the Cedros Deluxe range as you said, the number 3 is good but small so doesn't have so much complexity but the prominent flavours are still good. The number 2 offers a more complex experience. Buying 2 of each as you said would be good

yeah, i'd be keen to know peoples opinions on these! i've always resisted buying them, opting instead for the short churchill or a robusto/ hermosa no.4 from another brand!

also reaver, i'd recommend the duke, wide churchill or any of the cedros line......

          alex!

I agree on the dukes and the cedros line. I'm not really a fan of RyJ in general but thought those are both really nice.

Petit julieta or princess are pretty good too for quick and inoffensive smokes

Love both the Exi 4 and 3 always found the 4 to be more consistant but had some great Exi 3 over the years but for some reason never bought a box of either seem to always plump for the short churchill a big favourite of mine

I have quite a variety of RyJ and i've found the coronitas en cedro is a very good smoke for the price, much better than the RyJ in the tubes, give them a shot you will be pleasantly surprised...

Personally I thought the Duke was pretty shite. Smoked through a box and gave a bunch away. I went through a period of hating everything RyJ so the timing may have been wrong. The cederos line as stated is good but my fav is the Churchill tubos.

That is the best tubed smoke they do imo....as for the no1,2,3...i'd say no2 is the best of the 3, ok for a quick smoke.

The exi 3 and 4 with some age on are very good, oddly never tried a young one, the corinetas en cedro I've smoked a lot of as it's a good small cigar to pair with a morning coffee, good for the price but not complex.
The Cazadores is worth a try also, should age very well too, only had 2 Dukes and thought well... ok, have a couple of boxes to age long term, hope they improve....

The Cedros I never got on with but EX4 & 3 good, Cazadores excellent when 5yrs +. And I have a dozen waiting for warmer weather, as they are a great outdoor smoke.
