With regard to tobacco I don't think they claim Cuban characteristic, they claim Cuban seed which is correct, and which were brought out of Cuba by manufacturers, planters and blenders escaping the current regime.
All valid points but for me there is no escaping terrior. French vines in South Africa are not the same as in France. Aberdeen Angus in Connecticut is non the same as Scotland etc.

The marketing kind of reminds me of the current Volkswagen Golf campaign 'it's doors shut just like a Golf ...etc'.

What would a NC advert look like without mentioning scores from CA or 'Cuban roots', ok I know there are a few but probably most would need a complete rework.

Another consideration is that if Cuban seed+expert Cuban rollers/blenders+Dominican soil= Cuban cigars then we would not be having this discussion. The reality is it does not.

It is probably different for pasta or Ice Cream because these are more easily replicated (with imported Italian ingredients).

Typical marketing tbh, Cuban cigars are known the world over to be the pinnacle of cigar production and quality so any excuse to mention the name to garner respect and prestige for the product.

Cuban seed is also vague because predominantly the soil the plant sits in and the feed which affects flavour etc

Maybe they mention Cuban in US marketing because it is the forbidden fruit, and we all know when something is illegal the demand and popularity skyrocket.
