In this wonderful passion and journey of discovery in cigars what's that one marque that,at least up to now and with however much or little experience you have of it,you can't get on with or just don't "get" like everyone else seems to?.My answer as it stands would be H.Upmann.I've not sampled the full range by a long way but up until now never had one didn't make me go meh
Maybe cigar or cigars instead of marque, might have been a better way to start this thread...
I have only tried two different ones so far though: Reyes (twice just to make sure) and a Fundadores in Cuba.
I really didn't like either and I know that is a different opinion to many on here.
I do plan to revisit at some point - I think I am better at keeping cigars than I was when I got the Reyes so hopefully they'll be in better condition when I get round to trying them again.
I also struggled with HDM Petiti Robusto, another favourite on here. I have one in my humi that I am plnning to leave for a few months before giving it a go.
I came to the conclusion that Vortigan opened a can of worms here
My apologies if the thread has rubbed anyone up the wrong way, that certainly was the last thing I thought of or wanted. In very general terms I was just thinking about taste and how subjective it is but also how it can change re myself with Partagas etc.And then it occurred to me that of all The Upmann's I've had,not many it must be said,I've never had one that to my palette was anything other than fair. And then I wondered if anyone else had a similar set of experiences, hence the OP as just a point of discussion I suppose
"The most futile and disastrous day seems well spent when it is reviewed through the blue, fragrant smoke of a Havana cigar."

The deal with cohibas is IMO they are over expensive and there construction quality is iffy at best ?20 for a robusto that might or might not be well rolled and will almost certainly be very grassy for the first 3 years of its life makes me think of spending my money els where.
Though saying that i do like the siglo 2/4/6s,secretos and the lanceros (if you can get a good box dont buy lanceros blind)
I have to agree on the Upmanns, I've only had a couple but despite being on seperate occasions from seperate vendors they both tasted the same. A rather nasty pungant aroma that really put me off. I'll give the brand another shot in the future and I'm sure my palette will come around.
Por Laranaga. I tried them once and it was torture getting through the box. I ended up giving most of them away to friends that don't normally smoke cigars.
Guantanamero were the worst marketing decision Habanos ever made, they got rid of plently of good machine mades, the ones they kept they then had hand make (ggod move) & then they produced the crap that is Guantanamero. Every shop in Cuba had them, only non cigar smokers were buying them, several shop owners admitted to be it was a disaster for Cuban cigar image. Anyway Fonseca, JL Piedra & Quintero, find no place in my humi.
Got a 'present' of 5 Guantanamero's. It's actually hard to believe they're a Cuban cigar-they're that bad. I've had 2 and they were as bad as each other.
It's true what they say-'life is too short to smoke cheap cigars'.
