Dunno mate, I love the Monte Sublime so I'd be interested in some kind of alternative. Plenty of big gauge cigars out and coming out though.

Sublime's a pretty big cigar, are you looking at a LE or RE or a standard production..

Just had a rifle thru my bits..Juan Lopez Selection Suprema is a big un...

How about an H. Upmann Magnum 50? Personally I'm not a fan of them but they are quite creamy and at 6 3/8 x 50 they're fairly close in size to a Sublimes.
If you want a midget to look like a baby, don't put a cigar in his mouth.

          hey andy,
are you looking something in the same length/ RG? the monte sublime is 54RG x 6.5"...... an RYJ duke is 54RG x 5.5"..... the monte eagle is 54RG x 5.9"........ then you go down to 52RG, what about a cohiba siglo 6 or maduro genios?

if it's something similar to the quality, good luck finding it mate!

Hi andy - The LGC Inmensos is a lighter affair. I've only had the one so far and it was a fine smoke...

To answer the above, the reasoning is I'm after something similar in size due to my manly ego needing a massage now n again, I don't mind regular or LE/re I'm not looking for a box more so something I can stash half a dozen of. I really enjoy the monte sub in terms of how they smoke physically, the draw / feel etc which I appreciate is also about how they are constructed/ rolled but I would prefer on the odd occasion they weren't quite so monte of that makes sense. I don't mind slightly shorter but would prefer to stay 54 RG. This isn't an everyday smoke lads I've plenty of lil uns for that
              Thanks for suggestions so far...

                Hey Andy!

Good shout by Alex to seek out some Dukes. I've had some sublime Genios and Siggy 6's but they need a few years. Can you find the LGC UKRE's from 2008? Smoking superb in my view... Zig has been banging on about the Monte GE's but I've yet to have one that has wowed me.

How about splashing out on some actual Monte Sublimes, I saw some available back in the summer btu can't recall where now, which ain't that helpful...

                Cheers

                Will

Remind me to send you a *** custom roll "56", same size as the Behike 56, should do the trick

I don't mean to put a bad spin on this thread, but i had a Sublime a couple months back and found it to be quite disappointing. I've had far better cigars for a third of the price.

Same as Night, wondering if these have had their day now, or perhaps they somehow need a lot longer, who knows, but I prefer my GEs at the moment ( @ Will!)

I think 4 years is premature to start saying if they are past their best. They may well be in a flat period (hence not a very good smoke) but will come back up for sure. It is a large stick and 4 years is nothing. Thinking about it they have been consistent since fresh so they may be going into their first flat period. Put them down, bag them up and revisit in a year or two. This is normal procedure for cigars once past the first few years.

As to an alternative take a look at the 2003 OR Cuaba Salomones. A little bit off the wall but you can still buy (I think) the 2003 original release from JJ Fox which are probably less expensive than the Sublime and a fantastic smoke.

Andy, as far as I'm aware Fox in Dublin still have some Sublimes. Failing that, I think Monks suggestion for the Cuaba Salamones might suit you fine.
If you want to, you can.
And, if you can, you must!
