Thinking about a comment made by Monkey66 about the Monti PE being the best regular production Monti what are your guys thoughts about each brand, what ones stand out for you which ones do you look forward most to smoking? i am talking about regular production not EL or REs and not discontinued cigars

I happen to agree with Paul about the Montes i also think i like the partagas 898 from the partagas line the best
so what does it for you?

No they aren't and it was a LCDH exclusive - sorry I just couldn't leave it out because it's too good! But if it's not allowed, then I'd have to go for the Belicosos Finos.

Picked up two boxes of gold medals in Cuba a few months back, not that hat means they're still making them though.

Funnily enough I've not bought a box of upmann no 2s for a couple of years and had one on Friday from a friend... Forgot how good they were.

The Mag 48 is my favourite "tiny" cigar. Pricey for its size but so good. They're still pretty easy to come by. Its not a regular line but it has the feel that it should be to me, sits in its own little niche.

On the piramides front I'm often surprised at how overlooked the diplomaticos no 2 is. Never going to change the world, but a good cigar none the less.

If we were just talking brands and Montecristo specifically .... I'd put both Especiales, the No 2 and the Tubos well ahead of the PE.

I think that it really depends on how we define the 'best' of a brand: I agree with you that a good No. 2 is better than the PE, but No. 2's are notoriously inconsistent. I've had some very disappointing No. 2's as well as some outstanding ones, but I've never had a bad PE. So I'm more inclined to unreservedly recommend the PE than the No. 2.
