  • San Cristobal CARLOS III

Never heard of these and there's no mention on Trevor's site. I've prayed the description in case the auction gets cancelled

    uploadfromtaptalk1361864234310.jpg

You are bidding on an extremely rare*cigar box by*San Cristobal De La Habana for their*Carlos III*cigars,*hand made in Havana Cuba, and retailed exclusively through La Casa Del Habano. San Cristobal de la Habana was officially launched in*Havana on November 20, 1999. It was named after the original name of Havana which dates back to the 16th century. Before the*Revolution, a brand by the name of San Cristobal de la Habana existed, and it was produced until the Revolution. However, this new brand is completely unrelated and not a resurrection of the old brand. The brand initially launched with 4 cigars (El Morro, El Principe, La Fuerza, and La Punta). In 2004, to celebrate the brand's fifth anniversary, 3 additional cigars were produced for the V Anniversary Humidor and eventually released for public sale. These new cigars, the Officios, Mercaderes and Muralla, also feature an additional "La Casa del Habano" band as these cigars were only available at La Casa del Habano retailers.

I have tried to find more information about the Carlos III cigars, but they are so rare that very few tobacconists outside of Cuba have ever even seen them, therefore information is very difficult to find.*

This box features the San Cristobal De La Habana logo in gold*on the top of the traditional red color box. There is also another San Cristobal logo in gold color print*on a label on the inside of the lid. The box is in good structural condition with just a few nicks and scratches, all of which are pictured in detail. The cuban tobacco tax stamp and the La Casa Del Habano*corner band*are both intact. The corner bands are coming loose a little bit on the sides. The upper portion of the metal clasp is missing. There is* a piece of paper regarding cigar storage and a cigar band in the box. Both of these were in the box when I aquired it, and*I do not know if they are*related to the box or the cigars that were originally in it.*This box will make a*amazing addition to any collection. Do not let this one go by. It is not likely that you will find another one. It will be shipped fully insured for the final purchase price.

    Measurements are 11" x*10 1/4" x 2"

Wrong shape for a SCdLH box..
Colours are hard to tell from images but it seems very 'red'..
Not happy with the LCdH label on the front...it doesn't coincide with the band inside & colour is not good...
The box has press in hinges..I've not seen them on a boxes this size from SCdLH...
Label inside box lid is very unusual for SCdLH..usually blank...

      Nah!

The LE band looks dodgy but but might be in the box by accident

Puff - are you thinking these are fake ? The box and seals look pretty bang on to me?!
Murallas came in a vanished box rather than a dress box

                Yeah!
So did Oficios & Mercadares...these may have been a HSA 'local' release...the last time I saw a box like that was in Mumbai..it was Oficios & was deffo not legit....
putting another made up...but actually a good name for a SCdLH...on the box has been done so as to disclaim counterfeiting....

I tried not to use the word fake as it would imply a copy of something I knew about...
I haven't seen these before...but that doesn't men anything either...lots of boxes I've never seen.
I would however question the veracity of on item based on my earlier observations..

At the end of the day it's only a box with no contents..so I'm not that concerned..
Ajay can probably give you a definitive answer..but my gut tell's me there is something wrong....

Loads of boxes with unheard of names are often mooched around various festivals...testing reaction etc...most of them don't get to the open market.
