Yes indeed Simon, and the Auchentoshen was pretty good too!

A positive result in the end - a shame you had to go direct to H&F though.

One presumes the Scotch took the edge off the initial disappointment (Scotch can make me feel better about anything... Well, until I drink too much of it... Then I get a little too philosophical...)

As I heard nothing back from the retailer, I phoned Hunters & Frankau, spoke to a very helpful lady, Frances Hough and emailed her the details. A couple of hours later I received an email from their Sean Croley apologising and asking for my address to send me a replacement cigar. I now appreciate that buying UK sourced Havanas will always guarantee good service, something that may not be possible buying from overseas suppliers. Many thanks to all of you who advised and supported, especially Deano and Nicwing. It never really was only about the cost of the cigar, which is also important, but also about the disappointment in having to discard a new cigar after a struggle trying to smoke it, having organised a large double single malt, Auchentoshan since you asked, and all the anticipation that goes with it.

"I just smoked this Montecristo Petit Edmundo Tubos, bought a week ago from a well know London Cigar Merchant, cost me almost ?20."

If price wasn't part of your complaint..why on earth mention it in your opening line if it wasn't part of the issue...
Just replying to what I'd read...

Sorry to come to this late but I have to say I am extremely surprised that you haven't had a replacement.

Through the Cigar Guide I know all of the London cigar stores and I know that they are very proud to sell excellent cigars, ALL of them. I would expect them to exchange the cigar for you as a matter of course, they are all very proud of the customer service ethos.

If you haven't got a response and if you still have PM drop me a line I am very happy to help and I know all of the store managers and the majority of the staff.

As for what you paid for it..that's nobodies fault but your own ..you must have had an inkling that over ?14 for a PE was the vendor taking the piss..what did he do..hold a gun to your head?..
The forum's a good place to have a vent though! Carry on old chap!
I am surprised and disappointed, especially in view of who the vendor is. I never had PE before, it was bought on the recommendation of the vendor, as I normally smoke Cohibas. I have had the odd plugged cigar, and also one or two tight ones, and a few which were too loose, but nothing like this. I wasn't complaining about the price of the cigar, only the quality, so I don't know what you are going on about.

I have been using this outlet for over thirty years without any real problems. Lately the quality has been variable and the service haphazard. Expect see me in your Mayfair outlet soon.
