I remember you saying that mate.... I nearly cried
Sorry mate, I'm still a bit of a noob when it comes to cigars so it didn't really occur to me that they might be more sought after. I was focussed on the fact that they had the best part of four years on them, given that I don't have much with any age in my humi.
Anyway there's a PM on the way, maybe I can make some small recompense
One of my managers at work i from South Africa so I'm thinking of asking him to pick up some of the REs when he next goes back there, there a bit of a double whammy for me with them as they were brought out in the same year as the World Cup when it was held out there (not a coincidence I'm sure!)
1 Montecristo Sublimes
9 LFDC Short Churchills (sold a few on here)
1 Cohiba 1966
10 Bolivar Brittanicas
1 Punch Serie d'Oro No2
1 LFDC Grand Cano
I really want to try something RE from Por Larranaga, trying to get hold of a few Regalos De Londres, or the Swiss edition? Although I'm looking forward to this years UK RE. Anyone tried the Magnificos? Keen but they're going for ?40+ per stick!
Peejay-what do you make of the PL Italian RE Small Robusto?

I haven't smoked one yet but Mark is really keen on them. We'll have to persuade him to bring back a box next time.
Tomo, I loved the PL Small Robusto. My tasting notes say berries, sweet nuts, oak and cedar. I do remember a great berry sweetness. Loose draw and plenty of thick, creamy smoke.
I'm a bit reluctant to get too serious about LEs & REs just in case I find one I really like and then find out they are no longer available It would be a bit like finding out Habanos have discontinued production of your favorite smoke. The way i see it, LEs are discontinued before they start, and if you have to wait 5 years to see if its any good they will probably be all gone, particularly if they are any good.
Maybe the meaning of EL and RE is just to get a stable demand! lol. But haven't heard thing went seriously wrong with EL and RE, they do have exception qualities. If got the money, go for it! Especially when it is produced by the brand you like

Although I'd say that many REs and ELs do not share the characteristics of the brand (e.g. the Ramon Allones Allones Extra LE 2011)
Not sure when I'm going to indulge in one, going to have to be celebrating something really special.
Celebrate um..... Waking up? Being alive? Owning a nice box of cigars? The world didn't end at the millennium?..... Just make something up and smoke one! Hahaha
