Just got home and checked my Cigars. It looked a bit like this image but with a bit more thicknesses behind it.
When I found this I went back to the vendor and they assured me this was plume.
I checked my Cigars and it didn't have any stain left as some websites say...but needless ive taken this cigar out put it by it self in a lock n lock box..will keep an eye on it for a few weeks.

Wise move. Plume schpume! My arse. I bet if you popped a small bowl
of water in that lock n lock and kept it somewhere warm, you'd be growing plume like nobody's business Shamz. That's mould there mate, simples.
O OK...as am still new to this I just took his word.....I dusted it off and just came off.
Cheers guys. Hopefully if it is mould I've caught it before it's too late.
I've read conflicting articles about mould on Cigars....just wanted to ask you guy should you just chuck it ones it's been effected or are they safe to smoke when they have been cleaned up?
So to follow on from this, I've got a 25 box of RASCC in my tupperdor, along with an old Monte no 4 box full of various singles. Should I be storing the sticks in the boxes? I'd assumed they were made of cedar and therefore should be ok, or am I asking for it all to go up in mould?

From what I understand mould will normally occur when there too much moisture... So if your using a cigar box to store your singles inside the tupperdor ... I don't think that's a problem.
A cigar box will act as a buffer HB, but of course if things get really over humidified, and the temperature is favourable (or not, really) , cigars will be susceptible to mould.
Just to play Devil's advocate, the Vegueros Seaones that I have in a cardboard box since 2000 are perfect and have not taken on any taint from the cardboard. Just saying .... angel.jpeg

I supposed it is all to do how you store them..if slightly wetter you could be in a bit of bother.
Im probably in a minority of one.... But i happen to think that the story of Plume happens to suit vendors down to the ground.
In the world around us think about how many things have oil in them.... Now think about how many of those things randomly have "magical quality" crystals appear on them.
Im coming up fairly blank.
if you've ever seen canabis buds up close you can definately see crystals on the plant material. Called trichomes, they are cannabinoids crystallising on the surface. It actually looks very similar to the clear stubbly crystals that appear on cigar wrappers. I think it is pretty common in plants if you look close enough. Wether those crystals and plume are the same thing is still up for debate though! Both photos also look like mould to me too. But then I've never seen real plume either! Only those clear glassy hairs that catch the light.

Tetrahydrocannabinolic Acid is not strictly an oil. Its somewhat water soluble.
Theres also good science as to why they form, a reaction between Geranyl Pyrophosphate and Olivetolic Acid are catalysed by Enzymes to create those crystals.
I can't find any such scientific documentation to back up the Plume argument..... Which worries me.
I only ever read suggestions by laypeople that "Oils Crystalize and appear on the surface"

Going out on a limb, im going to say that if crystals do forn then its more likely to be from sugar in the glue or residual from when leaves are "dipped".
It's basically what happens when chocolate goes white. Sugar absorbs moisture which then evaporates leaving miniscule sugar "dust" on the surface.
But if this is correct then i dont think it would be an example of the cigars being kept in optimal conditions. More a sign of moisture fluctuations and a cigar with relatively high sugars.
Just a thought

Thats a potentially valid point about fluctuations there mucka, as I read something about that creating an instability which can contribute to the pixie dust. It was likely a theory just as many others but your post reminded me of it
