Good evening gents , received an email today from a company I use to buy cigars here in uk , cuban cigars to increase in price by 7% from 1 sept , reason given slump in pound since brexit . Makes the hobby even more expensive
I saw the email yesterday too. I wondered if this was something we'll see across the UK retailers or was it limited (initially) to just that one retailer?
It's been much talked about but when the Americans cigars smokers who aren't already buying Cuban start to the increase in demand will also affect global prices. I think the trend for fatter stogies is pandering to that market already.

I think the Americans will flock to try them out of curiosity but when they realise the price the demand will drop again. Most Americans on Facebook appear to have no difficulty smoking Cubans already. The cigar culture is completely different there with a cigar shop in every mall and the common man isn't going to give up his cheap cigars to smoke Cubans at that price.
Even if the embargo ended it would be many years before legal cubans appeared in the US. So many legal battles and brand issues before you even start to consider the new FDA rules etc..
