It's no secret that the Reyes is my favourite cigar, however, I have always purchased singles to enjoy almost immediately. I'm strongly considering buying either the pack of 5 or the cab of 12. I am, however, concerned about the reported sick period. Does anyone know approximately at what age this hits?

TJ to never pick up a puro before one year. As a general rule, the sick period last for about one year ofter rolling. From my personal experience, this applies to the Triny Reyes. (One of the don's favorites sticks, btw.)
So unless you plan to age 'em, look for box dates that are a year of more old.

It's probably down to a matter of production. Get the production out there. The tobacco is 'aged' as it's cured etc. to a degree. And ready is usually in the palettes of the smoker.
Look at the LE and Reserva, they sell those aged for a time already

I think I may finally have this CAD under control...

It all depends on your tastes.... every one taste is different....you might like the cigar more young when some else might like them aged or vintage. There's no right way just your way....but when you experience a well aged cigar you will always want to age your smokes...it's the temptation the kills you when trying to age it lol

Agreed! I have taken to buying aged sticks where possible, with the exception of a few that I know/have been advised smoke well young.Originally posted by SHAMZ84 View PostIt all depends on your tastes.... every one taste is different....you might like the cigar more young when some else might like them aged or vintage. I have a 2007 Cohiba Maduro Magicos in the humi with some nice LEs and ERDM from 2003. It's anti-temptation for me now; feel almost guilty for smoking them!

Wet Blanket!
It's my understanding that it's a matter of "re-fermentation" that occurs after a puro is rolled and the level of ammonia that results. Some puros may expel the foul ammonia taste sooner than others, but the Coro "rule of thumb" is one year.Originally posted by SHAMZ84 View PostIt all depends on your tastes.... every one taste is different....you might like the cigar more young when some else might like them aged or vintage. As one of our absent members advised, if it smells like cat piss, let it sleep.

Min Ron Nee has it down as smoke within a month or leave a year - Rafael Gonzalez notes the same on their boxes, as this article mentions - http://cigarcyclopedia.com/news-view...igars-are-sick

The issue i have with that is a month from what? Some sticks may have been rolled 6 months ago when you get them. Others might be a year or two old. How can you be so specific with 1 or 12 months. Smells of bull if you ask me.Originally posted by JamesE90 View PostMin Ron Nee has it down as smoke within a month or leave a year - Rafael Gonzalez notes the same on their boxes, as this article mentions - http://cigarcyclopedia.com/news-view...igars-are-sick
