That works, usually only on hard surfaces, it's how vinyl graphics are removed from windows, vehicles etc; but you still have to clear away the residue adhesive .... and if you don't it will discolour and remain sticky.If you want to, you can.

They are plasti-paper lined and have an air tight stopper. There is something unusual about the stopper, but I'm not about to take a knife to it to find out what it is.If you want to, you can.
