  • fresh rolled, anyone?

yesternight at the shop, I was introduced to some 'freshly rolled' which they said they just received them from Cuba. When I asked what brand are they, I was told they are from the factory and are all not branded.

all i can see is they are very dark and wear red ribbon/bands.

Price isn't cheap therefore i did not bother to try, the said they are fresh and very strong.

anyone tried these? or konw more about these so called 'freshly rolled'?

    Hi Sean

The only time I've had 'fresh rolled' is when fortunate enough to stumble upon one of the cigar rollers that H&F bring over each year. I find them very enjoyable - one was aged in my humidor for 10 months as I was only a few weeks pregnant when it was rolled for me, but normally I smoke them as soon as possible after purchase. As someone told me, it's not very often that you get a chance to smoke a fresh cigar and they are very different from the aged ones. If they're not too prohibitively expensive then it's probably worth it for the experience.

One of the major HK distributors has had its own range of 'LE's' made for them at full CC prices, I believe these are all belecosos in numbered boxes.

....although thinking about this they would not be described as 'freshly rolled' ...I'll get my coat.

surely the are not LEs and they were not in boxes either, not even under any brand name, all warpped in plastic wraps, therefore I am having a 2nd thoughts when offered to try one at about 20 quid. I end up spending less than half of that for a HdM Ep2.

Its my go to shop, and i have never doubted their quality of stock nor prices.

but I wonder how fresh they can be as i was told they just came from Cuba and where/how they get hold of them.

          Dosn't Get Any Better!

Freshly rolled puros are fine, as long as they are enjoyed within 30 or so days of being rolled. After that, they begin to ferment again, due to the moisture added to the wrapper during the rolling process - the so-called sick period. Once this happens, I generally let my puros rest for a year of more before smoking.

The question I would ask regarding the sticks you came across is, when were the made?

Useful info TJ, especially as there's a roller coming to my local shop next month.

I am a big fan of fresh rolled cigars. Not only is it a pleasure to watch a torcedor, if he/she is on-site, but the blends are usually unique. Some custom blends are extraordinary, others just different.
There is pleasure on smoking them fresh off the torcedors table, but like all other puros, they do benefit from a nice nap.

                Enjoy your cigars,
                Cheers
