    "An international perspective of price"...discuss.

    There seems to be a variety of folks, from a variety of places on the forum. Some in the UK and others from across the pond.

    Does anyone think it would be interesting to exchange information in terms of prices of a few chosen cigars from different countries, as a comparison?

    What prompted me was TJ's comments about storing his boxes of sticks: impressive.

    There may be difficulties relative to box/single purchases, but just a thought.

    If it's a pants idea chaps, kick my cyber-butt!

    You're welcome to, I think you'll find the UK is one of the most expensive - along with Norway according to a Nord friend of mine. I have some photos of typical wine-store shop prices around here somewhere...

      It might be interesting to look at average prices. The market like anything else would be massively ranging and then there's bulk/box et al. I know what I paid for v.small selection of puros in the motherland, so expect Cuban prices can be used if applicable.

      For starters:

      I bought a Montecristo Petit Edmundo at a local tobacconists at the weekend for ?12.70.

      Any international comparisons?

          Gentlemen let me save you a little time with my (limited) knowledge of a few countries prices.

          The prices of premium cigars in the UK and Ireland are disgraceful I think, definately some of the most expensive not just in Europe but in the world in my opinion. The best places in Europe for prices is definately either Spain or Switzerland and seeing as I'll be in Barcelona at the end of March for my 30th I sincerely hope that this is still the case!

          Prices across the pond are MUCH better, although the down side of course is you can't get Cubans, well not legally anyway . I was in New York in 2006 and could not believe the prices of some great non-cubans, although my cigar knowledge wasn't as developed as it is now and I also brought home some crap! I got a box of Gispert Robusto Maduro (a good cigar that Cigar Aficionado magazine score something like 92 or 93 points) for just over $40!!!!!! Still have a few left.

          I expect prices have gone up but am sure there are still some great prices around, again hopefully the case as I'll be in Vegas then Hawaii at the end of August for my Honeymoon and New York in December for her 30th and do intend to stock up on some goodies while there!

            yes in mexico you can get a monte petit edmundo for 12 USD per cigar
            in the local shop...expensive...the tax in mexico for cubans is 319%!!!!
            montecristo4 for 8 USD...
            monte#2 about for 14 USD
            cohiba robusto for 19 USD
            etc....
            in a some mexican web shops is cheaper...you cab buy a box of monte petit edmundo for 225 USD per box of 25
            monte #4 for 145 USD
            cohiba robusto for 300 USD
            etc...
            internet..tha best choice

              Golden, not sure where you live, but it sounds as though it's overseas. Prices seem very reasonable, with the added advantage of internet purchases, as TJ rightly points out. That's some primo tax over Mexico eh!
              well I live in north of mexico now about for 9 years,yes the prices seem reasonable here but I do not agree with 319% government taxes....
              any way..I really do not pay those prices because I have a site and the prices I get are really reasonable tax free...
