  • Cgars Auction 5th Nov 2025

For any of you that follow Mitch's auctions, this one is a stunner, with some vintage cigars I haven't even heard of! First couple of pages look like someone collection being sold off. getting out, died, buying a new yacht? Who knows?

I have also have a few boxes in, times are hard, my daughter is getting married next year & I promised to supply the car to take her to the venue. Unfortunately they are all listed as not available to buy or collect in the UK so I am not posting these lot numbers to ask you to bid but as prices have been going so crazy lately, I thought you might find it amusing to follow how much interest mine attract. Some interesting boxes & pretty old stuff, especially the Lot 486 CubaTobacco Diademas, which even Robert Fox hadn't seen before.
    Lot No.'s: 509 Boli Gold Medal 2007
Lot No. 510 Boli Gold Medal 2008
Lot No. 515 Cuaba Diadema early 2000's
    Lot No. 520 LGC Tainos x10 2001
    Lot No. 522 Monte Dumas x20 2017
Lot No. 524 Monte No2 x10 2011 (bought in 2011, wanted to age them 10yrs, then the 'right' moment to crack the box never happened).
Lot No. 529 Party Charlottes part box of 12 2001
    Lot No. 532 QDO No50 x25 2018
    Lot No. 539 Trini Vigia x12 2014
    Lot No. 540 Trini Viga x12 2015
Lot No. 560 Cohiba Seleccion Box x13 Cigars Dec 2002 (Thanks to Martyn selling his half box, I wouldn't have thought of it.)
Lot No. 562 Monte Edmundo Travel Humidor x5 cigars, no date.

And before anyone says I should have them on here, no one here is enough to pay the prices I am hoping for at auction! However, I will be selling some on here, perhaps have a pre Christmas sale so you have something special to smoke over the festive period. I'll do it before we have a Christmas herf in Londfon (anyone interested?) & then I can hand them over & save postage & possible losses in the mail.

I'd be interested in how you get on, I was thinking it might be time to thin my collection out a little and cash in.

Some of these lots are tempting, but say they cannot be shipped or collected within the UK? Am I missing something?

If they haven't got an EMS Label, I.e. bought abroad, Government rules means they can be sold here, sadly.

Interesting, I haven’t bought from auction before, I’ll keep
an eye on it. Sadly, EMS is a bugger for private sales legally.

Do you mean "can't" be sold here Simon?

Well not at a public auction, apparently.

Yea, read something like that after doing a little digging. Sticks bought abroad are not able to be imported. Plenty of lots for the UK though

Does that mean EMS are likely to fetch higher prices? There's no difference in quality is there?

All EMS boxes are opened on arrival at H&F, the only importer of Cuban cigars into the UK. They might claim we get better stock in the first place but this is the only fact that provable.

Whether the non UK lots fetch lower prices is an interesting question, which I guess I am about to find out. Against is restricted numbers of bidders, London hotels won't be able to bid. But if it's mainly rich asian bidders causing the crazy prices, then shouldn't be a big difference.

EMS - English Market Selection - at least per rumour used to be pre-selected by HF in Cuba, but I doubt that is true today.
No difference in prices fetched is detectable.

That is strange, as so many of the London shops are selling Habanos Regionals from all over the world.

                          naughty

Also EMS used to be lighter shade cigars way back when. Then it turned into best cigars lol
