Reading one of Monkeys replies in the Reviews threads

it struck me that unless were very lucky with boxes or extraordinarily lucky with small packs or singles almost everything we buy needs 'time' before it's ready for 'best' smoking.

However there are, going by Reviews, one or two vitola which seemingly smoke well from new. Would anyone care to recommend or add/delete from this list.

Yeah this should be quite an interesting read. I know from the 2010 boxes I have here that PDS4s and Monte2s definitely need a year on them.

          ? Trinidad Ingenios EL 2007.
I've also left the Short Robusto T off, as some Reviewers think this needs a year or two.

I ought to have mentioned this is Cuban only.

            I disagree 100%
I buy all recent/fresh cigars and have loved everything from 07 and newer.

But of course taste is very subjective.

I am allowed to disagree right?

Absolutely. It's what the thread is about. By 100% I'm guessing you mean ALL Cubans Tri, not just the list?

                I disagree about the Trinidad?

I like young PSD4 and (although I prefer them aged),

Have found that HdM petit robusto's are consistently decent at a young age.

                      Stupid thoughts from me .
Can someone define 'new' for me, are we talking 2010 cabs/singles etc?
I'm not trying to be pedantic but all cuban cigars as far as I know are aged somewhat before we get them, perhaps as in the case of the Cuban Trinidads, which do smoke 'well' new, the tobacco from Vuelta Abajo is aged for a considerable time before it's presented to us. I'm not one to only hold a single opinion but I think the majority of Cubans are indeed a good smoke from 'new' but having said that, perhaps a list of cigars that DO NOT age well would be a tad better list for all of us.
I see Tippex has quite rightly IMO, left the Ingenios EL 2007 off the list, but it did smoke beautifully straight out the box in '07 & is even better now.
                      Dumb question,
Cab of Monty 2's, one 2002, one 2009, which would you smoke first??
Would I smoke one from a 2010 box & say it was great ... Hell Yes..

Yes.Fresh cigars do/should contain aged leaf. Aged as in fermented.

agreed the HdM P robustos are great young.

I never had issue with young smoke, untill today's young JL1 I had, it was good but I can feel it needs more aging. May be beucase I have tasted a couple aged goodness. both from 1998. they are really great. made me compare the new sticks to them.

Or are we not including them ?

what traits are you looking for when deciding if a stick needs more time?
