  • Which Coffee?

Not directly related to cigars, but… I’ve got the wife an expressio coffee machine for christmas, you can use either pods or loose/filter coffee with it.

But I need some recommendations on brands/blends to try , we’ve only ever used instant Nescafe Gold Blend .

        hey g man,
i'd recommend cafe direct's machu picchu or mayan palanque, or taylors hot lava java or after dark!!! these are what i go for when i have no nespresso pods, and are generally available from supermarkets such as tesco, asda, sainburys etc! the cafe direct stuff, when not available from supermarkets is available from oxfam fair trade shops!!

I am not a coffee drinker... However my dad is a massive coffee fan. He likes the sort of coffee that he can stand his spoon up in. When he makes coffee for anyone else they think he's laced it with crack.... I think it comes from working in arabic countries with suspicious types back in the 60s. He has tried every coffee going, he's ground it himself, blended it.... You name it he's done it.

Now here is the rub.... He swears by aldi's own ground coffee. I keep it for guests and they're always asking where I get it because they love it. They're either over the moon or disappointed by the reply depending on how snobby they are. Give it a go....

Me? I can't stand coffee.... However tea is another matter. Lol

I used to buy Aldi's Columbian Coffee, I loved it. Went for some more a few weeks back and it said 'New Improved Flavour' on the label.
I think it was the label that was 'New and Improved' as the coffee was nothing like what it used to be. It was awful.
Pity, as it's not always easy to find a coffee that I like.

                Thanks

Looks good... but is it suitable for an expressio machine? I’ve been looking around and it seems that people say I should get an expressio grind coffee? Is that what this is?

G mate, maybe just being a pedantic git, or just don't know my machines, so don't take this the wrong way as thats not my intention.
Is an expressio machine a particular brand name or are we simply looking for something that will suit any "espresso" machine?

                    sorry Espresso not expressio
There are around 4-5 methods of making coffee... that I know of...

The two most common are a pump type espresso machine (what I have), this forces water through espresso ground coffee, a filter coffee machine slowly passes water through filter ground coffee

I’m just not sure if al grind sizes can be used with a pump espresso machine or not.

                        Hi Gman,
My wife is crazy about coffee and I gave her Cookworks signature espresso maker (H27 x W26 x D24cm) on her last birthday. We have found the best coffee machine ever.
