Am I the only one who is a little annoyed at the calls for the government to pay for replacement implants after the PIP debarcle?

I'm not talking about if they were needed after mastectomies etc. But for purely cosmetic reasons.

I've just seen a woman on TV saying the tax payer should pay because some women have taken out finance to pay for the original implants so can't afford to pay for replacement.

In my opinion the women who have these for whatever reason desrve to have a product that meets government standards, it is not the women who have the PIP implants that are at fault it is the company and the person who carried out the opperation for producing and therefore using sub standard products, so in my opinion the women should not have to pay to have the products replaced. If you bought a TV from argos and it was poor quality you wouldn't expect to have to pay for a replacement. For me there is no difference between the 2. You don't 'need' a TV just like you don't 'need' (in most cases) breast implants. A sub standard product desrves to be replaced as it is not the customers fault

But who should pay for them? The tax payer doesn't pay to replace TVs.

I believe the French government have offered compensatory removals of the offending lumps, according to Radio 4 this evening. So whilst not putting their hands in numerous women's 'cups', they seem to be putting them in their own pockets (hopefully)

Another woeful QC issue from across the channel: if it's not rusty bonnets, it's exploding breasts!

This is a case for trading standards/Medical standards whoever not the Government, these women have purchased a product and service from a provider and it is their Duty of Care to ensure it is fit for purpose, so fake tits r us should pay for the putting right

I demand that I inspect every one of these women first hand!!

Then let the Manufacturer pay for it, damn them, they made a botched product, they foot the bill.

Problem is it would be the vendor company's responsibilty but I believe they may be bankrupt, so someone has to pay for it, which would end up being the NHS, which means tax payers money anyway...

Such a sinking feeling when you are titnotized by a fantastic "Dead Heat in a Zeppelin Race" only to realise it wasn't God's work.
