Bryan I might be finished early sunday if so might be able to make it will bell you closer to the day. I will be bringing the little women.
I see you stand like greyhounds in the slips, Straining upon the start. The game's afoot: Follow your spirit, and upon this charge Cry 'God for Harry, England, and Saint George!'
What Bryan forgot to tell you is that Broadstairs has the best and I mean the very best, Ice cream shop in Europe (as testified by the Graniaud as I recall)

Would that be Morrellis or Chiapiannis?
Look at the crowds ! No chance of getting parked in Chandos Square!!
I'm sorely tempted to drive down. As I'm supposed to meet some family from Austrailia for the first time in 30 years on that day and given the choice Broadstairs would win everytime!
Great stuff
Saucy seaside postcards, One of the great epitomes of Britishness which has unfortunatley rapidly declined in recent years. I can still recall my sadness and horror a year or two ago when walking past Ye Olde Curosity Shop in Broadstairs to find the racks of saucy postcards that used to line the outside walls of the shop had sadly dissapeared. No doubt they had been asked to remove them by some Politically correct Council numpty in case it offends the muslims or a stray Tibetan Monk.
I shall continue with this on the rant thread later I think.
Bryan,
Hope you have a wonderful day, I shall be there in spirit and will light something special up in yours and Broadstairs honor this afternoon.
Out of interest are you aware of the ghost story/ haunting of the clock tower seated building thing opposite the bandstand?
I know that on the green by the bandstand there will probably be some market-type stalls and one of them has fantastic cowboy hats. I have some money put by in case I get the urge!
Bet they are not there this year!
Nic's son is coming up to play with us on a number. He's been practising his sax lines in the right key. (No, Bryan?!?). He'll be blowing with two other sax players today.
Once two years ago at this very ice-cream gig there was a really grotesque Punch and Judy stand next to me in full swing. I loved it because it just made the whole thing a real trip. Strangely 18th Century highbrow moment.
Like with the pissed fat birds we had to play Mustang Sally for for about two hours last night in a Sandwich pub.
This is how I remember it,
I will confirm the actual details later with family members in case they are wrong.
Back in the early 19th Century 2 Brothers agreed to meet up one morning at the clock tower. One of the brothers waited while the other one didnt show. It turns out that the brother that didnt show decided to go for a morning swim in the bay before meeting but apparently drowned and was never found.
The brother visited the bandstand to look for his brother every day until he died.
Now for the litmus test......
The clock tower seated area is divided up into sections. sit in each of the sections and one section can be felt to be colder/spookier than the others.
Position of the sun your thinking? nope, the section in question has been in direct sunlight.
Next time I am there, I will try the cold you can sit on thang.
That very clocktower was to the right 100m away as Nic and I toked on FIREs on Broadstairs beach after our gig.
What better way to wind down after a happening Cornetto gig than in a BOTL ON THE BEACH way?
Apologies, Nic. I've included the second picture because the spectre of that Asian Babe picture at JJ Fox seems to be haunting me in it.
I'll let Nic write about the gig when he's back in London because, frankly, I've given ALL for Art over the last three days and there's no more juice to spend, loves.
Oh yes. One detail.
The Broadstairs Town Cryer lol turned up to introduce us before we started. He was wearing a scarlet frock coat and silken breeches.
