Just found out that i'm off to Dublin tonight for a few days. Any of our Irish friends recommend a good tobaconist, beer garden or strip joint in the city centre?

I was there around six years ago Kdot, and i do remember stumbling accross one shop in the city centre.Might be the one indicated by Lascaux.Hopefully some of the other members can help out.

Absolutely, senor dot! I visited Dublin a few years ago where I enjoyed a slow-drawn Guiness and a bowl of traditional Irish stew. The Guiness was fabulous - best I ever sampled - and the stew....well, the stew was okay.

Stopped by a few puro shops but don't remember seeing anything special. I usually bring my own when I travel.

Havent been to the decent cigar emporium, but from the website it looks... 'decent', guess thats why they came up with the name.

I have been in JJ Fox beside Trinity College, was happy enough but I knew what I wanted and it was pretty common (MC No. 1).

According to their website 'if a tobacco product is to be had in Ireland, Fox's will have it.' Lets hope they live up to that. (JJ Fox 119 Grafton Street.)

As for the Guinness believe it or not you can get a bad pint of guinness in Dublin so I would avoid nightclubs, ultra modern bars etc.

Try temple bar area for a good pint, or head into 'the Church' on Jervis Street, it's an old converted Church of Ireland and they have a nice outside heated patio, and a smooth pint of Guinness. And if you are lucky enough you might even get yourself a Barbeque. (Food's good too).

You can't miss the decent cigar emporium right at the top of Grafton street with a cigar store indian outside. You go upstairs large selection and cabinets of ageing cubans.

There is 3 cigar shops in grafton street.

JJ Fox is at the bottom of the street, accross the way from Trinity College. Very good selection, especially on aged cigars and old EL's. Prices are "Irish" like in all the shops, but there is some great value on the aged stock.

Pettersons is two door down from JJ Foxes and they have the only walk-in humidor in Ireland. Decent sellection on cubans; if you are into the pipes you will find a huge sellection there.

Descent cigar emporium is at the top of Grafton Street. It is on the first floor , with the entrance next to captain America's. Good sellection of newer cubans and non cubans. You should have a look into their "bespokes" if they have any in stock.

As for pubs with good smoking areas, try O'Donoghues in Merrion Row, the Morgan Hotel in Temple Bar or if you want a meal in nice cigar friendly terrace, try Georges Bistro in Sth Fredrick Street. They are all in walking distance from Grafton Street.

Thank you gents for your suggestions, however due to vast amounts of alcohol and sunny weather, I didn't get the chance to check back for your words of wisdom.

However I did stumble upon Peterson's, nice selection of pipes and saw the walk in humidor (there was a large gent already standing in there and I'm far from skinny so I couldn't get a proper look, wasn't the biggest walk in humidor tbh). The chap in the shop was too busy chatting away to one guy for ages so I didn't hang around. Overall wasn't to impressed.

Wish I had went to the place recommended by Lascaux and JPmoore, looks like a nice spot, though the prices do seem on the high side.

Not to worry though, as like TJ, I never leave home with out my smokes, 2 hoyo churchills, 2 cohiba magico maduro 5, 2 RyJ short churchills. They served me well over my three days.

Jaysus, I hope it wasn't 17 Euro for the Baby Guinness and one other drink, the spot I go down to is 11 Euro for two pints, which is still dear enough when you considering you're only getting about 1 Euro per pound.

The shop you visited sounds like the place I went to. Good thing you brought you own. I bet you're glad you remembered the Golden Rule -
