I thought it was good, a similar genre to inception. I guess they are love or hate films really.

I did, and I have absolutely no idea why it won the Oscar for best motion picture.

I thought it started very well then lost its way some. Agreed it shouldn't have won though, Unbroken was a far superior film for me.

The dude in 'unbroken' has the goofiest laugh in showbiz...not that he did much laughing in that film. lol

Haven't seen Unbroken, I'll have to take a look. From the movies I saw during 2014, Interstellar should've won. From the actual nominees, I'd most likely go with The Grand Budapest Hotel or Boyhood - this one wasn't a particularly great movie in itself IMO, but the concept behind it was somewhat groundbreaking.

                • Grand Budapest was a brilliant film and I think birdman only won as it is a bout actors and acting and the Oscars are won with votes from other actors

I've just given up on this about half way through, it just wasn't going anywhere and totally lacked the impetus of the first one.

Grand Budapest is good, very Wes Anderson.
Boy hood is also well worth checking out, not a perfect film by any means but the task undertaken to make it was/is extraordinary.

Exactly my points. Both are more worth watching then Birdman, IMO.

                          • I've watched two war films today, one could have benefitted from more action and yet the other has very little and was the better film for me. First up was 'Flags of our fathers', Clint Eastwood's movie about the raising of the flag on Iwo Jima. A lot of the film is dedicated to what happened to the soldiers afterwards with flashbacks which somewhat detracted from it for me. The second was 'Resistance' which is about a valley in Wales after a hypothetical German invasion and the interaction between the locals and a German patrol. If you haven't seen this then this is what good drama is about and Andrea Riseborough is watchable in anything.

Quite fancy Resistance, Andrea Roseborough was good in Shadowdancer which is worth a watch.

'71 is another good IRA film.
