    • Last night I watched Heat from 1995. It is pretty good and has stood the test of time. A bit long, 3 hours, but doesnt feel like it. Good steamy action from DeNiro and Pacino and some excellent dialogue. It makes the similar length latest Bond fillum look like the junk it is. THIS is how to make a 3 hour film.

      • I finally got out of the house and had a chance to watch No Time To Die. I agree with others, the storyline was a bit weak, however I did enjoy it a lot still! I've personally enjoyed Daniel Craig as Bond, but this may reflect my age as most point to Sean Connery as the best 007.

Another point more related to cigars: Daniel Craig has been implementing cigars a lot more in his past couple of films. The cigar end he finds his villa in Jamaica? He actually smoked this himself on set 😁👍🏻 You can also expect to see a lot more cigar smoking in his return as detective in Knives Out 2 coming out next year.

The question is, who will be the next Bond?!

        • Went to see Dune tonight. Absolutely brilliant film. Visually spectacular. Definitely go and see it at the cinema, TV won't do it justice.

How very topical! I reckon it'll be Tinie Tempah

I hope they pick a great actor that's not very well known to the mainstream. I don't like the idea of someone well known doing it. I don't think Daniel Craig was well known to the mainstream audience when he took it on.

My vote is for Tinie Tempah 😂👍🏻

Somehow he’s a property developer now though as he’s trying to take on Kevin from Grand Designs

Saw it last night can’t entirely make my mind up (which is kind of how I felt about bond) both visually amazing and sounded great, really pulled you in. Dune felt much longer than Bond but both really lacked much story or plot.

Bond I enjoyed but could barely remember afterwards, I vote for a Paloma spin off!

Dune had a very unusual combination of being fascinating and kind of dull at the same time.

                        • Stumbled across The Harder They Fall on netflix last night. VERY Tarantino-esque and also very good. Well worth watching and a lot of good cigar smoke...

Looked on here last night for inspiration and so wathed Jolt. About twenty minutes in my wife, who had no idea why I had chosen Jolt says, "whoever told you this was good much just have really liked Kate Beckinsale!".

We finished the film and it was quite good to be honest, not as good as "Kate" (and nowhere as near as violent) but quite good, certainly watchable. Beckonsale is a nice actor - THE Beckinsale's daughter I believe. Interestingly the violence in this film, was all sort of noise and no bite - no guns really, no death, not much blood( apart from THAT scene which was truly disturbing). Yeah, worth the watching for sure. Thanks for the tip.

                            • Last week I watched Scarface. (Can tell my house is being redecorated and rebuilt after the the fire - my worshop is out of bounds so nothing creative to do but watch a good fillum and smoke a good cigar). Pacino is superb. I didnt like the character or his accent, but it never faltered and he was very good. A decent old fashioned film.

He was a Cuban, but I can't remember what cigars he smoked in the film, think they are supposed to be Cohibas, esp when he makes it big.

I remember he famously asked for Monte 2s in Scent of a Woman when he wanted Chris O'Donnell to disappear for a while so he could kill himself, a great film.
